BlockBlueLight vs PlatinumLED: Which Red Light Therapy Brand Wins in 2026?
Medical review: All articles on Red Light Therapy Top 10 are reviewed for scientific accuracy and evidence-based relevance by our medical expert team. This page is wellness information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan.
This pairing is two premium home-panel catalogs, not a third-brand crown. BlockBlueLight sells a dual-chip 5W PowerPanel line with dual-disclosed solar and spectrometer figures, a 5-year body-panel warranty, and chassis that actually reach 62 and 71 inches. PlatinumLED sells a 7-band BioMax family, including 1060 nm on every size, 90-degree conical optics, and a BioMax Pro layer with app, voice, and named modes. Criterion rows split. The overall pick below is between these two names only.
Winner summary · two-brand fight
Overall winner: BlockBlueLight
BlockBlueLight is the Australian family catalog behind PowerPanel, with warehouses in North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. PlatinumLED is the 2010 US BioMax veteran, now also BioMax Pro. Both are FDA-registered. Both ship a door hook and sell the floor stand separately. Sessions with either mix may help a general wellness routine. Prices are manufacturer stickers pulled 1 September 2026 from each brand’s products.json. No coupon is invented. TOP10 is 6 percent off RLT Home only, in the later funnel.
At-a-glance verdict: BlockBlueLight for dual-disclosed spectrometer numbers, a 5-year body-panel warranty, Trustpilot 4.5 from 1,137, and a 62-inch or 71-inch chassis. PlatinumLED for a 7-band 1060 nm list on every BioMax size, a 90-degree flood, single-chip architecture, a 60-day trial, and BioMax Pro app control. Dual-chip is a PowerPanel fact, not a smear.

The brands at a glance
BlockBlueLight
The dual-disclose, 5-year, dual-chip PowerPanel catalog
BlockBlueLight sells glasses, sleep lighting, and red light panels from the same family-owned shop. One PowerPanel family covers Mini (40 LEDs) through Ultimate XXL (1,200 LEDs), with Mega at 300 and Elite XL at 720. Dual-chip 5W LEDs, a 60-degree beam, touchscreen, pulse from 1 to 10,000 Hz, and a door-hook kit repeat across those sizes. Floor stands do not.
Most brands pick one irradiance number. BlockBlueLight prints a solar-meter reading and a spectrometer reading at six inches, and the live Mega footnotes treat the spectrometer as the dosing figure while calling the solar meter a comparison-only number. Example: Max is listed at 162 solar / 82 spectrometer. This page quotes spectrometer against spectrometer and never folds that 162 solar figure into a peak-to-peak with PlatinumLED.
PlatinumLED
The 7-band, 90-degree, single-chip BioMax veteran
PlatinumLED has sold red and near-infrared panels since 2010. The 2026 home story is classic ninth-generation BioMax and BioMax Pro, both 7-band, with Pro adding named modes, pulse, app, and voice. Live stickers: Pro Nano $799, Midi $999, Grande $1,299, Ultra $1,599. Classic BioMax 300 $659 through 900 $1,299. The XL motorized horizontal stand is $869 extra.
The brand owns its design rules. It refuses oversized single panels and points full-body buyers to two- or four-panel stacks. It also argues against even-spread spectrum and weights 660 nm and 850 nm as peak-absorption bands. Independent Light Therapy Insiders work matches that weighting. 1060 nm is on the list. Independent density on that band is a small slice.
Spectrum density, not band count
Seven names on a spec sheet are not seven equal slices of energy. BlockBlueLight publishes percentage tables. PlatinumLED does not publish a BioMax Pro per-band table. Independent testers on classic BioMax found most energy in 660 nm and 850 nm, which is also the brand’s stated philosophy.
On Mid, Pro, Max, and Mega, BlockBlueLight lists 660 nm at 40 percent of LEDs, 630 nm at 10 percent, 850 nm at 40 percent, 830 nm at 5 percent, and 810 nm at 5 percent. That is an 80 percent red-plus-850 core with a thin 810/830 tail. Mini stays 660/850. Mega Plus and Ultimate XXL move to 590 nm amber 16 percent, 630 nm 17 percent, 660 nm 17 percent, 810 nm 14 percent, 830 nm 14 percent, 850 nm 13 percent, 1060 nm 9 percent. Live Mega marketing still sometimes mixes five-band and seven-band language. This page treats Mid through Mega as the five-band table and Mega Plus plus Ultimate XXL as the 590-to-1060 table.
PlatinumLED lists 480, 630, 660, 810, 830, 850, and 1060 nm on every BioMax and BioMax Pro size. That is a genuine catalog-wide 7-band claim, including 480 nm blue, which BlockBlueLight does not put on the core PowerPanel body sizes. Independent Light Therapy Insiders measurements on classic BioMax hardware land near 2 percent at 480, 9 percent at 630, 39 percent at 660, 5 percent at 810, 5 percent at 830, 36 percent at 850, and 4 percent at 1060. The list is seven bands. The energy is still concentrated at 660 nm and 850 nm. Density, not count, is the comparison.
On 1060 nm, BlockBlueLight’s Mega Plus / Ultimate XXL table prints 9 percent. PlatinumLED’s independent classic BioMax slice is about 4 percent, but 1060 nm is on every BioMax size, while Mid through Mega do not list it. A $1,500-class 1060 nm panel in this pairing is BioMax Pro Ultra, not PowerPanel Mega. A published 9 percent 1060 nm allocation is Mega Plus ($2,559) or Ultimate XXL. 590 nm amber is a BlockBlueLight flagship extra. 480 nm blue is a PlatinumLED extra. Band count is not a trophy by itself.
Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties
Compare spectrometer to spectrometer, peak to peak or average to average. Do not mix a solar-meter headline with a spectrometer headline. Solar meters overstate LED output. BlockBlueLight is unusually plain about that. Max dual-discloses 162 solar / 82 spectrometer at six inches. Mega dual-discloses >167 solar / >89 spectrometer. Elite XL and Ultimate XXL dual-disclose 189 solar / 90 spectrometer. Mega Plus lists 83.1 mW/cm² spectrometer. This page never places 162, 167, or 189 next to a PlatinumLED spectrometer peak as if they were the same instrument.
Independent Light Therapy Insiders Gen5 work on PowerPanel Mega measured peak 105 mW/cm² and average 81 mW/cm² at six inches, close to BlockBlueLight’s own Mega spectrometer floor (>89). LTI also noted a Mega spectrum closer to an even five-way split than the brand’s 40/10/40/5/5 table. Brand table and independent spectrum are both on the record.
PlatinumLED product pages do not print a single mW/cm² number. The brand points to LightLab charts and historically used solar-meter marketing. LTI measured BioMax 900 at peak 113 / average 90.3 at six inches, BioMax 450 at 96 / 72, and BioMax Pro Ultra at about 120 / 101. Peak-to-peak at 36 x 12: Pro Ultra ~120 versus Mega 105. Average-to-average: ~101 versus 81. PlatinumLED wins the independent flagship row. BlockBlueLight wins transparency, because solar and spectrometer sit on the same product page.
Manufacturer spectrometer versus manufacturer spectrometer also favors BlockBlueLight on disclosure: Mega prints >89 while Pro Ultra’s product page does not print a single mW/cm² number. Independent instruments still favor Pro Ultra on raw irradiance at six inches.
Dual-chip versus single-chip is a design fact
BlockBlueLight uses 5W dual-chip LEDs across the PowerPanel line. PlatinumLED uses single-chip LEDs and has argued publicly against dual-chip architecture. That disagreement is on the record. It is not a smear of either catalog.
A dual-chip package puts two dies, typically red and near-infrared, under one lens. The claim is more even surface mixing. The counter-claim is that each wavelength shares the package’s drive, so a given nanometer is less intense than a full-power single-chip, and the single-chip peak is cleaner. Both can be true for different buyers. Mega lists 300 dual-chip packages. Pro Ultra lists 432 single-chip packages in a similar 36 x 12 inch footprint (about 1.00 vs 0.70 LEDs per square inch). Do not equate 300 dual-chip with 300 single-chip or with 600 independent peaks. Read the spectrometer row, which already folds chips, optics, and drive into one measurement.
60 degrees versus 90 degrees
BlockBlueLight specifies a 60-degree beam across PowerPanel. PlatinumLED specifies 90-degree conical optics on BioMax-class panels, and Light Therapy Insiders beam-angle testing on BioMax 900 supports that 90-degree figure. A narrower beam concentrates more of the panel’s output onto the body in front of it. A wider beam lights a broader patch, including more of the room, and is more forgiving if the user is not standing dead-center.
Neither angle is a free upgrade. 60 degrees is the BlockBlueLight choice for keeping energy on target. 90 degrees is the PlatinumLED choice for a flood that covers more of a torso at a given distance. Buyers who hate aligning a panel will like 90 degrees. Buyers who want less wall-spill will like 60 degrees. Distance still dominates dose. Stepping from six inches to twelve inches drops irradiance on both catalogs. LTI’s BioMax 900 drop from 90.3 average at six inches to about 75 at twelve inches is the kind of real-world fade a 90-degree flood produces.
Coverage, height, and LED density
Physical size decides whether a “full-body” claim is a single panel or a stack. BlockBlueLight Mega is 36.2 x 11.8 inches, 300 LEDs, $1,499.95: a torso-class panel, not a lie-under panel. Elite XL is the first true full-body height: 62 x 16.5 inches, 720 LEDs, $3,499.95 without stand. Ultimate XXL is 71 x 24 inches, 1,200 LEDs, $4,499.95 without stand. Two panels increase coverage area. They do not raise the irradiance at one spot.
PlatinumLED stops a single panel at about 36 inches. BioMax Pro Ultra is 36 x 12 inches, 432 LEDs, $1,599. A genuine head-to-toe PlatinumLED build is modular: Midi + Ultra $2,498, Ultra + Ultra $3,098, plus the XL motorized stand at $869. Coverage can match. The cart is two panels and a stand. That is why BlockBlueLight wins the single-chassis full-body row.
LED package density at comparable footprints, computed from published size and LED count:
| Panel | LEDs | H x W | Approx. area | LEDs / sq in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PowerPanel Mid | 120 dual-chip | 18.1 x 8.7 in | ~157 sq in | ~0.76 |
| PowerPanel Mega | 300 dual-chip | 36.2 x 11.8 in | ~427 sq in | ~0.70 |
| PowerPanel Elite XL | 720 dual-chip | 62 x 16.5 in | ~1,023 sq in | ~0.70 |
| BioMax Pro Midi | 216 single-chip | 19 x 12 in | ~228 sq in | ~0.95 |
| BioMax Pro Ultra | 432 single-chip | 36 x 12 in | ~432 sq in | ~1.00 |
| BioMax 900 | 300 single-chip | 36 x 12 in | ~432 sq in | ~0.69 |
Pro Ultra is the densest 36 x 12 panel here. Mega and BioMax 900 both sit near 0.70 LEDs per square inch, so the independent average gap (Pro Ultra ~101 versus Mega 81 versus BioMax 900 90.3) is drive and optics, not a wildly different face. Elite XL holds Mega-like density over a taller face. That is coverage, not a hotter spot than Mega’s 81 average.
Modes, pulse, and apps
BlockBlueLight does not ship named condition presets. PowerPanel uses a touchscreen, user-savable presets, Ambient low-intensity mode, and pulse from 1 to 10,000 Hz, with no verified companion app. BioMax Pro ships five named Smart Therapy Modes (Deep Tissue, Anti-Aging, Sleep Support, Skin Repair and Recovery, Workout), pulse from 0 to 9,999 Hz, app, and voice. Classic BioMax is R+/NIR+ dimming only. PlatinumLED Pro is app-connected. PowerPanel runs from the panel.
In the box, stands, and shipping
Both brands put a hanging kit in the carton. BlockBlueLight includes an over-the-door hook, hanging cables, and a pulley system, plus one set of goggles. PlatinumLED includes a hanging or door-hook kit and describes goggles as optional, with one set typically in the box. Neither includes a floor stand on the standard body-panel SKU.
BlockBlueLight stands, live 1 September 2026: portable $39.95, wall $79.95, base $118.95 (Mid/Max) or $131.95 (Pro/Mega), deluxe wheeled $154.95, horizontal $369.95. Elite XL and Ultimate XXL variants add $500 (heavy-duty) or $900 (motorized). Shipping is typically about $10, with warehouses in North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
PlatinumLED stands: tabletop $119, wall $79, mobile floor $139, XL mobile $219, rack or horizontal $379, XL motorized $869. Shipping is free in the US, UK, and Canada. Mega plus horizontal stand is about $1,870. Pro Ultra plus XL motorized is $2,468. Elite XL with motorized stand is $4,399.95 in one SKU.

BlockBlueLight
4.5 / 5
4.5 out of 5 from 1,137 reviews. The sample covers the wider BlockBlueLight shop (glasses, bulbs, and panels), not PowerPanel alone. A thousand-plus public reviews is a usable sample.
PlatinumLED
4.1 / 5
4.1 out of 5 from 133 reviews. Hardware praise sits next to complaints about price, stands, and returns. The sample is thinner by about an order of magnitude. This page uses the English listing only.
The reviews row is awarded on score plus sample, not vibes. 4.5 from 1,137 beats 4.1 from 133 on both axes. BlockBlueLight wins this row. PlatinumLED does not automatically lose the pairing because of 133 reviews. It loses this one criterion. A 4.1 from 133 is still a real public file. It is not a 4.5 from four figures.
Trial, warranty, and the cost of changing your mind
BlockBlueLight: 30-day trial, no restocking fee on panels, buyer pays return shipping, panel must come back complete and resalable. Discount codes over 15 percent are exchange or store-credit only. Warranty on body panels is 5 years. The manufacturer comparison table lists Mini at 1 year.
PlatinumLED: 60-day trial, 20 percent restocking on elective returns, buyer pays return shipping, 3-year warranty. On a $1,599 Pro Ultra, 20 percent is $320 before freight. On a $1,499.95 Mega, stated restocking is $0 before freight. BlockBlueLight wins restocking. PlatinumLED wins trial length. EMF claims: BlockBlueLight 0.1 µT at 6 inches, PlatinumLED 0.0 µT at 4 inches. Neither replaces a spectrometer figure.
FDA-registered, not FDA-cleared, for home panels
Every consumer red light panel on the US market in this comparison is FDA-registered. Registration is a listing. It is not FDA clearance and it is not a disease-treatment authorization. BlockBlueLight describes itself as FDA-registered and does so accurately. This page does not flag that wording as false marketing.
PlatinumLED is also FDA-registered. The brand additionally markets BioMax hardware as clinical-grade and as official FDA Class II medical devices. No home LED panel in this pairing holds an FDA-cleared performance classification that turns a living-room session into a medical treatment. The listing class is the same. The extra adjectives are the difference. Sessions with either catalog may help a wellness routine. They are not a cleared therapy for a diagnosed condition.
BlockBlueLight lists HSA/FSA eligibility via TrueMed on flagged panel SKUs. That is a checkout path, not a clinical claim.

Who should buy BlockBlueLight
Buy BlockBlueLight for printed solar and spectrometer figures, a 5-year body-panel warranty, Trustpilot 4.5 from 1,137, pulse to 10,000 Hz, and a 62-inch Elite XL or 71-inch Ultimate XXL without stacking. Buy Mega for a 36 x 12 panel with LTI 105 peak / 81 average. Buy Mega Plus for published 9 percent 1060 nm plus 590 nm amber at $2,559. Do not buy Mini expecting the 5-year warranty, or treat 162 solar on Max as a spectrometer figure.
Who should buy PlatinumLED (the genuine runner-up niche)
Buy PlatinumLED for 7-band 1060 nm on every BioMax size, 90-degree optics, single-chip packages, and BioMax Pro software. Pro Ultra wins the independent flagship spectrometer row against Mega. The 60-day trial is twice as long. Shipping is free in the US, UK, and Canada. Buy Pro Ultra for the densest 36 x 12 panel here, or Ultra + Ultra plus a $379 to $869 stand for modular full-body. Do not expect a 62-inch single chassis, a 5-year warranty, or FDA clearance behind clinical-grade copy.

Every BioMax size lists 1060 nm. Optics are 90 degrees. Chips are single-die. Pro Ultra wins the independent flagship spectrometer peak and average against Mega. BioMax Pro adds app, voice, and five named modes. The 60-day trial is the longer calendar. Full-body is a stack plus a stand, with a 20 percent restocking fee if the stack comes back.
If the cart is one 36 x 12 panel and the buyer wants printed numbers plus warranty, Mega is the BlockBlueLight pick and still the overall pairing winner. If the cart is a 7-band 1060 nm list, a 90-degree flood, and Pro software, BioMax Pro Ultra is the PlatinumLED pick and a genuine runner-up, not a leftover. Sessions with either may help. Neither is FDA-cleared as a home medical treatment.
FAQ
Does BlockBlueLight beat PlatinumLED on power?
On independent 36 x 12 spectrometer figures, no. LTI measured Mega at 105 peak / 81 average and Pro Ultra at about 120 / 101 (BioMax 900 113 / 90.3). PlatinumLED wins those rows. BlockBlueLight still wins disclosure (Max 162 solar / 82 spectrometer, with 82 as the dosing number).
Is dual-chip worse than single-chip?
It is a different package, not a defect. Dual-chip 5W LEDs put two dies under one lens, usually red and near-infrared, which can mix those bands at the surface. Single-chip sends all of a package’s drive into one wavelength, which can mean a cleaner peak and more power per nanometer. PlatinumLED argues for single-chip. BlockBlueLight ships dual-chip. This page records both facts. The spectrometer row already includes the result of that choice.
Which brand has 1060 nm?
PlatinumLED lists 1060 nm on every BioMax size (independent classic density about 4 percent). BlockBlueLight lists 1060 nm on Mega Plus and Ultimate XXL at 9 percent. Mid through Mega are published without 1060 nm.
Is there a discount code for either brand on this page?
No. This page does not invent a BlockBlueLight code or a PlatinumLED code. TOP10 is 6 percent off current RLT Home live prices only. Live RLT Home 1 September 2026: RLT Home Total Spectrum Mini $495 / $465 TOP10 through RLT Home Total Spectrum Elite $4,495 / $4,225.
Who wins user reviews?
BlockBlueLight, on score plus sample. Trustpilot English listings pulled 1 September 2026: BlockBlueLight 4.5 / 5 from 1,137 reviews on www.blockbluelight.co.uk, PlatinumLED 4.1 / 5 from 133 reviews on platinumtherapylights.com. Manufacturer on-site stars are not mixed into that row.
