Hooga is the budget catalog: HG200 at $149, four-band ULTRA, a 61-inch ULTRA4500 at $3,499, and named Light Therapy Insiders tests. BlockBlueLight is the PowerPanel catalog: Mini $499.95 through Ultimate XXL $4,499.95, 5-year warranty on the larger SKUs, dual-disclose irradiance, and 1060 nm on Generation 6 Tabletop through Elite XL and XXL. This page scores those two brands only. RLT Home sits in the funnel, not on the trophy.

The brands at a glance

Hooga Health

Three lines, one value brief: $149 through a 61-inch chassis

Three families: HG is single-chip 660 plus 850 nm from HG200 $149 (40 LEDs, 9.5 x 6 in) through HG1500 $899. PRO keeps those two bands on dual-chip LEDs, PRO300 $299 through PRO4500 $3,099 (61.2 x 15.7 in, 900 LEDs). ULTRA is 630 / 660 / 810 / 850 nm on quad-chip LEDs, ULTRA360 $399 through ULTRA4500 $3,499 (61 x 16 in, 900 LEDs). No Hooga panel lists 830 nm or 1060 nm.

LTI measured ULTRA360 at about 74 mW/cm² versus 132 claimed, and ULTRA1500 at 104 peak / 81.7 average at 6 inches. Hooga now prints those figures on its certifications page. Warranty 3 years. Trial 60 days, customer pays return shipping. US shipping is free.

Hooga HG200 red light therapy panel
Hooga HG200, manufacturer CDN. Live $149 on 1 September 2026. The cheapest panel in this pairing, and the row Hooga keeps.

BlockBlueLight

PowerPanels with dual-disclose numbers, 1060 nm, and a 5-year clock

PowerPanel Mini $499.95 (40 x 5W, 660 / 850 nm, 1-year warranty) through Ultimate XXL $4,499.95 (1,200 x 5W). Generation 6 from Tabletop through Elite XL and XXL names 590, 630, 650 or 660, 810, 830, 850, and 1060 nm. Mini stays two-band.

Product pages print solar-meter and spectrometer figures at 6 inches. Mega Plus still publishes LED share, including 9% at 1060 nm. Warranty is 5 years on the body-size SKUs. Trustpilot 4.5 from 1,137. Trial 30 days. Shipping about $10, warehouses on four continents.

BlockBlueLight PowerPanel Elite XL red light therapy panel
BlockBlueLight PowerPanel Elite XL, manufacturer CDN. Live $3,499.95 without stand. 62 x 16.5 in, 720 x 5W dual-chip, Generation 6 mix including 1060 nm.

Spectrum: density beats a four-versus-seven headline

Hooga ULTRA lists four wavelengths. BlockBlueLight Generation 6 lists seven names. Count the share, not the headline. ULTRA quad-chip LEDs carry 630, 660, 810, and 850 nm, about 25% each. HG and PRO never leave 660 plus 850. 810 nm means buying ULTRA. 830 nm or 1060 nm means leaving Hooga.

BlockBlueLight Mini is the same two-band pair as Hooga HG, at more than three times the sticker. From Tabletop up, Generation 6 adds 590, 830, and 1060 nm. Mega Plus still prints LED share: 590 16%, 630 17%, 660 17%, 810 14%, 830 14%, 850 13%, 1060 9%. Nine percent at 1060 nm is a real slice. It is not a 25% slice. Seven names is not seven equal bands. Neither catalog lists 480 nm blue.

Density beats count. ULTRA is the even four-band. BlockBlueLight is the broader mix with a 1060 nm minority and an 830 nm slice. Dual-chip and quad-chip are how those mixes are stacked, not defects.

Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties

A solar power meter over-reads LED arrays. A spectrometer is the figure this site will match to another spectrometer figure. Peak with peak, average with average, six inches with six inches. Hooga brand 165 is not LTI 81.7. BlockBlueLight solar 162 is not spectrometer 82.

Hooga: unstated brand method, named LTI on ULTRA

Hooga charts list 6-inch irradiance without naming the instrument: ULTRA360 132, ULTRA750 161, ULTRA1500 165, ULTRA4500 155 mW/cm². Those headlines sit roughly double the independent spectrometer numbers. LTI measured ULTRA360 at about 74 against 132 claimed, and ULTRA1500 at 104 peak / 81.7 average across nine points at 6 inches (139 W total, 4th in LTI’s 17-panel 2024 power round). Hooga now cites 104 / 81.7 on its certifications page. That is the named-LTI row, and an admission that 165 is not the working spectrometer number.

Hooga ULTRA1500 four-wavelength red light therapy panel
Hooga ULTRA1500, manufacturer CDN. Live $1,399. 300 quad-chip LEDs, 39.5 x 8.6 in. LTI spectrometer 104 peak / 81.7 average at 6 inches, not the 165 brand cell.

BlockBlueLight: dual-disclose on the page, plus LTI on Mega

BlockBlueLight prints both instruments at 6 inches. Live Elite XL page table: Tabletop 145/58, Mid 158/61, Pro 160/68, Max 162/82, Mega 167/89, Mega Plus 167/83, Elite XL chart 172/90 (copy still says 189/90), XXL 189/90 (solar / spectrometer). The Elite XL copy-versus-chart mismatch is left as a mismatch. LTI Mega 4.0: 99 peak / 87.3 average at 6 inches, between the brand’s 167 solar and 79 spectrometer cells. Spectrometer versus spectrometer, Mega 87.3 average and ULTRA1500 81.7 average are in the same conversation. Solar 167 is not.

BlockBlueLight PowerPanel Mega red light therapy panel
BlockBlueLight PowerPanel Mega, manufacturer CDN. Live $1,499.95. Brand dual-disclose at 6 inches: >167 solar / >89 spectrometer. LTI Mega 4.0: 99 peak / 87.3 average. Those are three labeled methods, not one blended score.

Takeaway: Hooga wins the named-LTI citation (104 / 81.7 printed on its certifications page). BlockBlueLight wins line-wide dual-disclose. Never mix Max 162 solar with ULTRA1500 81.7 spectrometer.

LED chips: single, dual, and quad are facts

HG is single-chip. PRO is dual-chip 660 plus 850 nm, 1:1 per LED. ULTRA is quad-chip, two red and two NIR chips per LED. BlockBlueLight PowerPanels use 5W dual-chip LEDs. Dual-chip is a fact, not a smear: it blends bands across the face at 6 inches. Single-chip keeps a cleaner peak per diode. Counting 900 ULTRA4500 LEDs against 720 Elite XL LEDs without naming the chip type is a bad comparison. Hooga lists 50,000-hour LED life. BlockBlueLight lists 100,000 hours. Both are manufacturer claims. The printed 100,000-hour row goes to BlockBlueLight. It is not a lab endurance test.

Beam angle

Both full-size lines list a 60-degree lens. ULTRA1500 coverage charts grow from 41 x 10 in at 3 inches to 58 x 27 in at 18 inches as irradiance falls. BlockBlueLight mains PowerPanels use the same 60-degree class. A 30-degree cell on the brand chart is a small battery SKU, not Elite XL. Closer raises irradiance and shrinks coverage. Beam is even.

Coverage, height, and what full body costs

HG200 is 9.5 inches. Mini is 9.7 inches. Those are tabletop fields. ULTRA1500 is 39.5 x 8.6 in: seated torso, not standing full length. ULTRA4500 and PRO4500 jump to about 61 x 16 in. BlockBlueLight Max is 39.4 x 8.3, Mega 36.2 x 11.8, Elite XL 62 x 16.5, Ultimate XXL about 71 x 24. The $3,499 pair is ULTRA4500 (900 LEDs, four bands, 3 years) versus Elite XL (720 LEDs, 1060 nm, 5 years). Hooga wins LED count. BlockBlueLight wins 1060 nm, dual-disclose, and two warranty years. XXL is the height Hooga does not match.

Hooga ULTRA4500 on the brand vertical stand, manufacturer CDN. Live panel $3,499. Stand is a separate $299 SKU. 61 x 16 in, 900 quad-chip LEDs, 630 / 660 / 810 / 850 nm.

At $3,499 Hooga puts 180 more LEDs in the rectangle, plus 60 days and free US freight. BlockBlueLight puts 1060 nm and 830 nm, a spectrometer cell, and 5 years. XXL is the size Hooga does not sell. PRO4500 is the two-band 61-inch option.

BlockBlueLight Ultimate XXL full body red light therapy panel
BlockBlueLight Ultimate XXL, manufacturer CDN. Live $4,499.95 without stand. About 71 x 24 in, 1,200 x 5W, Generation 6 mix including 1060 nm. No Hooga SKU matches this footprint.

Modes, pulsing, and what is not in the firmware

Neither catalog ships Skin / Sleep / Pain presets. HG is a timer. PRO is flicker-free and stand-compatible. ULTRA adds a touchscreen, separate red and NIR brightness, pulse 1 to 9,999 Hz, and remote sync. No weekly usage plan. Generation 6 adds per-band dimming, four user presets, Ambient mode, pulse 1 to 10,000 Hz, and a touchscreen. One Elite XL buyer noted an app used to rename presets and said daily use does not need it. Pulsing is a control, not a protocol.

In the box, stands, and door hooks

Hooga includes goggles. HG200 and HG300 include a foldable tabletop stand; PRO and ULTRA include a tabletop stand. Floor stands are extra: vertical $299, horizontal $299, compact $199. The vertical stand is vertical only, not an electric lie-under frame. BlockBlueLight includes goggles, remote, door hook, wall bracket, and hanging cables, so Mini or Max can hang on day one. Floor stands extra: base $118.95 or $131.95, deluxe wheeled $154.95, horizontal $369.95. Motorized Elite XL is $4,399.95 versus $3,499.95 without stand, a $900 delta printed as a variant.

Hooga PRO300 dual-chip red light therapy panel
Hooga PRO300, manufacturer CDN. Live $299. Dual-chip 660 / 850 nm, tabletop stand in the typical PRO box. A BlockBlueLight Mini at $499.95 still has no 810 nm and a 1-year warranty.
BlockBlueLight PowerPanel Tabletop red light therapy panel
BlockBlueLight PowerPanel Tabletop, manufacturer CDN. Live $599.95. First Generation 6 size with 1060 nm in this pairing. Dual-disclose 145 solar / 58 spectrometer at 6 inches on the brand table.

Hooga wins the included tabletop stand and free US freight. BlockBlueLight wins the door kit and a printed motorized Elite XL variant. Neither kit is an electric 64-inch lie-under stand. Do not price a $299 vertical as a $900 motorized frame.

Trial, warranty, and what 60 days actually costs

Hooga: 60-day trial, 3-year warranty on HG, PRO, and ULTRA. No restocking fee is stated. US prepaid-label cost is deducted. Customer pays return shipping. Open-box is non-refundable. Longer window than BlockBlueLight. Not free return freight. BlockBlueLight: 30-day panel returns, no restocking fee, customer pays return shipping. Discount over 15% is exchange or store credit only. Warranty is 5 years on Mid through XXL, 3 years on Tabletop, 1 year on Mini. This page concedes the 5-year manufacturer figure. Hooga ships free in the US. BlockBlueLight is about $10, with warehouses in North America, Europe, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

No invented codes. This page does not mint a Hooga coupon or a BlockBlueLight coupon. Light Therapy Insiders publishes its own affiliate code on its reviews. That code is theirs. It is not repeated here. TOP10 is 6% off RLT Home only, and only in the funnel below.

FDA-registered, not cleared, for these home panels

Both use FDA-registered language. Hooga: made in an FDA-registered facility, general wellness, not cleared. BlockBlueLight: FDA-registered, described accurately, still not cleared. Registration is a listing, not clearance. HSA/FSA (Hooga eligible; BlockBlueLight via TrueMed) is a payment pathway, not a clinical claim. Sessions with either mix may help a general wellness routine. That is the ceiling.

Who should buy which catalog

A standing full-body sheet with 1060 nm, a labeled spectrometer cell, and a 5-year warranty starts at BlockBlueLight. A sub-$200 start, 60 days, free US freight, or named LTI on ULTRA starts at Hooga. Those are different jobs. The overall winner is still BlockBlueLight, because the typical full-body shopper is not shopping HG200.

Buy Hooga if

$149 entry, 60 days, free US freight, named LTI, 900 LEDs at 61 inches

  • The budget hard-stop is under $200, and HG200 at $149 is the panel that exists.
  • A 60-day trial matters more than a 5-year warranty, and paying return freight is acceptable.
  • Named Light Therapy Insiders numbers on ULTRA360 and ULTRA1500, now cited on Hooga’s certifications page, are the irradiance proof the buyer wants.
  • Four even ULTRA bands (630 / 660 / 810 / 850) are enough, and 830 nm or 1060 nm is not required.
  • A 61 x 16 in ULTRA4500 with 900 LEDs at $3,499 is the full-height target, and a $299 vertical stand is the floor plan.
  • Trustpilot 4.3 from 54 is enough, and a 1,137-review listing is not the deciding sample.

Buy BlockBlueLight if

1060 nm, dual-disclose, 5 years, Elite XL, Trustpilot 4.5 from 1,137

  • 1060 nm and 830 nm have to be in the mix. Generation 6 Tabletop through XXL print them. Hooga does not.
  • The product page must show solar and spectrometer together. Max 162 / 82 and Elite XL 189 / 90 (chart 172 / 90) are labeled pairs.
  • Five years on a $1,100 to $4,500 panel is the warranty that matches the spend. Mini’s 1-year cell is not that warranty.
  • Elite XL at $3,499.95, 62 x 16.5 in, or Ultimate XXL at $4,499.95, about 71 x 24 in, is the chassis.
  • A door hook on day one matters, or a motorized Elite XL variant at $4,399.95 is the lie-under path in this pairing.
  • Trustpilot 4.5 from 1,137, mixed catalog disclosed, beats 4.3 from 54 on sample.
  • Warehouses in the UK, EU, Australia, or New Zealand beat Hooga’s US-freight story.

The verdict

Dual-disclose irradiance, 1060 nm, 5-year warranty, Elite XL at $3,499.95, XXL height, and Trustpilot 4.5 from 1,137 give BlockBlueLight the overall win. HG200 $149, 60-day trial, free US shipping, named LTI, and 900 LEDs in ULTRA4500 give Hooga the runner-up niche. Density beats count. Dual-chip is a fact. Solar-meter 162 is not spectrometer 82. RLT Home is only in the funnel.

Which brand wins this page?

BlockBlueLight overall. Hooga is the runner-up for $149 entry, 60 days, named LTI, and ULTRA4500. No third-brand crown.

Are these FDA-cleared medical-grade panels?

No. Both are FDA-registered. Registration is a listing, not clearance. Home panels here are not treated as cleared devices.

Can Hooga’s 165 mW/cm² be compared with BlockBlueLight’s 162?

Not as a single cell. Hooga 165 is unstated-method. LTI 104 peak / 81.7 average. BlockBlueLight Max is >162 solar / >82 spectrometer. Compare 81.7 with 82, not 165 with 162 solar.
