iRestore vs Joovv: Which Red Light Therapy Brand Wins in 2026?
Medical review: All articles on Red Light Therapy Top 10 are reviewed for scientific accuracy and evidence-based relevance by our medical expert team. This page is wellness information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Sessions with either brand may help a general wellness routine. Neither catalog is presented as treating disease.
Scored between iRestore and Joovv only. This is a panel comparison. iRestore is best known for FDA-cleared hair-growth laser caps; Apex Pro 1500 and Apex Elite 2160 are a different product. Joovv is the Mini-to-Elite modular wall with Recovery+ at 10 Hz and a published 50/50 660/850 mix. RLT Home appears later in the funnel. It is not the trophy on this page.
Winner summary · two-brand fight
Overall winner: iRestore
iRestore (irestorelaser.com) is Freedom Laser Therapy’s consumer line, still identified with FDA-cleared hair-growth helmets. Apex is the later body-care catalog: two 36 x 12 x 3-inch LED panels that share eight named wavelengths. Joovv (joovv.com) sells modular Mini and Solo bricks that clip into Half-Max, Duo, Max, Quad, and Elite walls. Every modular Joovv panel in this generation is 660 nm plus 850 nm.
Shopify variants pulled 1 September 2026: Apex Pro 1500 $1,299, Apex Elite 2160 $2,199, Joovv Mini 3.0 through Elite 3.0 $1,099 through $11,099. Both homepages advertised Labor Day language. This page quotes variant records, not an unverified overlay. No coupon is invented. TOP10 is 6 percent off RLT Home only, in the funnel.
Verdict between these two: iRestore for most panel buyers who want eight named bands including 1060 nm, a 10-year Apex warranty, a 12-inch chassis, and a door mount in the box. Joovv for Mini-to-Elite expand, Recovery+ at 10 Hz, and the Light Therapy Insiders Solo 3.0 spectrometer pair. Sessions may help a general wellness routine. Neither home panel is FDA-cleared.

User reviews on Trustpilot (live 1 September 2026)
Independent Trustpilot listings pulled 1 September 2026. On-site shop star widgets are not mixed in. The row is awarded on score plus sample size. Joovv’s 1.6 listing is harsh and is not hidden.
iRestore · Trustpilot
3.6 / 5
1,092 reviews · trustpilot.com/review/irestorelaser.com. Pulled 1 September 2026. Large sample, mostly hair-helmet and skincare buyers, not an Apex-only forum.
Joovv · Trustpilot
1.6 / 5
74 reviews · trustpilot.com/review/www.joovv.com. Pulled 1 September 2026. Sample is large enough to score. Themes often concern shipping, signature delivery, and support next to a premium sticker.
iRestore wins this row on score and sample: 3.6 versus 1.6, 1,092 versus 74. The iRestore sample is not Apex-only. A hair-led catalog pulls hair-led reviews. That does not excuse Joovv’s 1.6 listing, and it does not prove Apex fails at 1060 nm.

The brands at a glance
iRestore
Eight-band Apex panels, 10-year warranty, door mount in the box
Apex Pro 1500 (300 LEDs) and Apex Elite 2160 (432 LEDs) share a 36 x 12 x 3-inch chassis, eight named wavelengths, a 30-degree beam, six smart modes, a touchscreen, a magnetic remote, and an app. Elite 2160 adds individual wavelength control. Brand irradiance is greater than 200 mW/cm² at about 6 inches, instrument unnamed. One panel is half body. Full-body bundles: Pro $2,997, Elite $4,797. Studio four-panel kits: $6,095 and $9,695.
Joovv
Modular Mini-to-Elite, Recovery+, 50/50 660/850
Gen 3.0: Mini 60 LEDs, Solo 150, Half-Max, Duo 300, Max 420, Quad 600, Elite 900. Go 2.0 $549 is a handheld, out of the panel tables except as a portable note. Every modular panel is 660 plus 850 nm (Mini 50/50, Solo ~51/49). Dual-chip 660+850 per LED is a fact. Recovery+ 10 Hz. Eyewear in the box. Stands extra. Two-year warranty.
Hair lasers are a different product class
iRestore still sells FDA-cleared hair-growth laser helmets. They are not Apex panels and do not belong in a panel irradiance table. They are why some buyers pick iRestore, and why the homepage can say “FDA-Cleared” without that sentence applying to Apex.
Live Shopify variants on 1 September 2026: Essential $799, Professional $1,499, Elite $2,699. Helmets use a 12-month money-back structure with a 25 percent service fee, not the Apex 60-day panel trial. Joovv does not sell a helmet. Ignore helmet diode counts in the panel tables.
Edge: iRestore for a dedicated FDA-cleared hair helmet plus an Apex body panel from one vendor. Joovv if the job is a modular 660/850 wall and hair is not a separate device. Helmet numbers stay out of the panel tables.
Spectrum and wavelength density: eight named bands versus a published 50/50
iRestore lists eight wavelengths on Apex. Joovv lists two. Count is not the whole story. Density is the LED share in each band. Joovv publishes Mini and Solo splits. iRestore has not published Apex wavelength allocation. That is a transparency gap on Apex, not a smear of the diodes, and a real Joovv row on the two bands Joovv ships.
iRestore Apex: eight named bands, unpublished mix
Both Apex Pro 1500 and Apex Elite 2160 list the same eight wavelengths. The product page groups them as a skin-renewal zone (590, 630, 660 nm) and an energy and recovery zone (810, 830, 850, 940, 1060 nm), and it marks 480 nm as no blue light. LED share per band is not published.
| Wavelength | Role (as commonly discussed) | Apex allocation |
|---|---|---|
| 590 nm (amber) | Surface skin, tone-oriented sessions | Not published |
| 630 nm (red) | Surface skin, collagen | Not published |
| 660 nm (red) | Surface skin, collagen, hair | Not published |
| 810 nm (near infrared) | Muscle, joint, brain | Not published |
| 830 nm (near infrared) | Muscle, joint, brain | Not published |
| 850 nm (near infrared) | Recovery, mid-NIR | Not published |
| 940 nm (near infrared) | Deeper NIR, recovery-oriented sessions | Not published |
| 1060 nm (deep NIR) | Deep tissue, joints | Not published |
Eight named bands including 590 nm and 1060 nm is a real Apex advantage against a two-band wall. Unpublished mix means a buyer cannot check whether 1060 nm is a token row or a meaningful share. Density still beats count. Joovv wins the published-split row. iRestore wins the named-band row.
Joovv: two bands, published Mini and Solo splits
Every Joovv modular panel in Generation 3.0 emits 660 nm red and 850 nm near infrared. Mini is 30/30 LEDs (50/50). Solo is 76 red / 74 NIR, about 51/49. Larger kits are stacks of those bricks, so the mix does not gain 810, 830, 940, or 1060 nm as the wall grows. That is a genuine Joovv limit, not an invented weakness.
| Wavelength | Joovv density | Role |
|---|---|---|
| 660 nm (red) | Mini 50%. Solo ~51%. | Surface skin, collagen, hair |
| 850 nm (near infrared) | Mini 50%. Solo ~49%. | Recovery, mid-NIR |
A published 50/50 on 660 and 850 nm is a Joovv honesty win. Buyers who want 810, 830, or 1060 nm will not find them in Mini-to-Elite. Sessions at 660/850 may help a general wellness routine. They are not a substitute for bands Joovv does not emit.
Edge: iRestore for eight named bands including 590 nm and 1060 nm. Joovv for a published 50/50 on 660 and 850 nm. Count without density is not a knockout.
Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties
Comparing irradiance is the fastest way to mix unlike tools. Solar power meters overstate LED output. Unnamed brand figures cannot sit in the same cell as a named spectrometer. Peak compares with peak. Average compares with average. This page will not put iRestore’s unnamed-instrument >200 mW/cm² next to Light Therapy Insiders’ Joovv Solo 3.0 pair as if they were one method.
Joovv: brand surface claim, named LTI spectrometer on Solo 3.0
Joovv publishes greater than 100 mW/cm² at the surface for Generation 3.0 panels. Light Therapy Insiders measured a Solo 3.0 with a Hopoo Color OHSP-350F spectrometer: peak 72.4 mW/cm², average 59.2 mW/cm² across nine spots, red-only 45.2, NIR-only 66.3. That pair is the independent trail Joovv has here. It is not proof that Mini, Duo, or Elite match Solo 3.0.
iRestore Apex: brand figure, instrument not named
iRestore states Apex delivers more than 200 mW/cm² at approximately 6 inches (15 cm). The instrument is not named. That number is not treated as a spectrometer result and is not placed in the LTI row. No named third-party Apex spectrometer was on the public record this page could verify on 1 September 2026. That is a gap, not an invented diode defect.
| Source | iRestore Apex | Joovv Solo 3.0 |
|---|---|---|
| Brand figure | >200 mW/cm² at about 6 in. Instrument not named. | >100 mW/cm² at surface. Distance not always restated. |
| Named independent spectrometer | None located for Apex on this date. | LTI peak 72.4 / average 59.2. Same-tool pair. |
Edge: Joovv for a named independent spectrometer trail on Solo 3.0. iRestore’s >200 figure stays in the unnamed-instrument column. Do not rank 200 against 72.4.
LED chips: dual-chip is a fact, not a smear
Joovv’s modular Generation 3.0 line uses dual-chip LEDs: 660 nm and 850 nm share a package, so every spot emits both bands. That gives even surface coverage for those two wavelengths and splits package power across two dies. Dual-chip is an architecture choice, not a defect and not a reason to invent flicker or safety problems.
iRestore lists 5W LEDs on Apex and does not publish chip type. This page will not guess. A named chip map exists on Joovv (dual-chip 660+850). Eight named bands exist on Apex regardless of the unpublished chip map.
Edge: Joovv for a published dual-chip 660/850 architecture. iRestore chip type remains unpublished. Dual-chip is described as a fact.
Beam angle
Apex lists a 30-degree beam. Joovv does not publish a beam angle on the Generation 3.0 cards pulled for this page. Without a Joovv number, this row is not a smear and not a knockout.
Edge: iRestore for publishing 30 degrees. Joovv unpublished. Not a coverage substitute.
Coverage, height, width, and LED density
A 36-inch panel is not a 72-inch wall. LED count is not coverage. Density is LEDs per square inch of the published face. Connecting modules increases area. It does not raise the irradiance on one square centimeter of skin.
| Device | LEDs | Face (in) | Approx. LEDs / sq in | Body coverage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apex Pro 1500 | 300 | 36 x 12 | 0.69 | Half body |
| Apex Elite 2160 | 432 | 36 x 12 | 1.00 | Half body |
| Joovv Mini 3.0 | 60 | 14.75 x 8.75 | 0.47 | Targeted / tabletop |
| Joovv Solo 3.0 | 150 | 36 x 8.75 | 0.48 | Moderate column |
| Joovv Duo 3.0 | 300 | 72 x 8.75 | 0.48 | Tall, 8.75 in wide |
| Joovv Max 3.0 | 420 | 50.75 x 17.5 | 0.47 | Full-body kit |
| Joovv Quad 3.0 | 600 | 72 x 17.5 | 0.48 | Full-body kit |
| Joovv Elite 3.0 | 900 | 72 x 26.25 | 0.48 | Wide full-body wall |
Apex Elite packs 432 LEDs into 432 square inches, about 1.00 LED per square inch. Joovv bricks sit near 0.47 to 0.48. That density gap is a real iRestore row on a 36-inch chassis. Joovv still wins height and expand: Duo is 72 inches tall, Elite is 26.25 inches wide. Apex stays 36 x 12 unless a second panel is added. A Solo stays 8.75 inches wide until a second column is added.
Apex reaches standing full-body coverage with two-panel bundles (Pro $2,997, Elite $4,797). Joovv reaches standing height with Duo at $3,699 and adds width with Max, Quad, and Elite. Pick the job: denser 12-inch half-body now, or a modular 8.75-inch column that can grow.
Edge: iRestore for density and 12-inch width on a single 36-inch panel. Joovv for 72-inch height and a path from Mini to a 26.25-inch Elite wall.
Modes, pulsing, and control
Apex puts six smart modes on a touchscreen and magnetic remote, with Bluetooth app control, 0 to 40 Hz pulsing, and 0 to 100 percent dimming. Elite 2160 adds individual wavelength control. Pro 1500 uses group control. Those are published Apex features.
Joovv’s app-facing modes are Recovery+ (10 Hz pulsed), Ambient, and Wake. Recovery+ is the named Joovv differentiator. Ten hertz is a studied pulsing frequency. It is not a 0 to 40 Hz sweep. Buyers who want a named recovery pulse get Recovery+. Buyers who want 0-40 Hz get Apex. Both catalogs are app-connected. Neither ships an offline-only panel. The privacy contrast belongs in the RLT Home funnel, not as a fake gap between these two.
Edge: Joovv for Recovery+ at 10 Hz. iRestore for 0-40 Hz pulsing, six on-panel modes, and individual wavelength control on Elite 2160.
What ships in the box
Apex includes a door mount and blackout goggles. VisionGuard glasses are $60 extra. Stands sold separately. Live Shopify variants 1 September 2026: floor $159, universal $399, motorized $899. The product page also showed a Labor Day overlay at $119 / $349 / $799. This page quotes variant records unless checkout confirms the overlay.
Joovv Generation 3.0 devices include protective eyewear. Stands are extra: Boot Floor Stand 3.0 $200, Mini Stand 3.0 $250, oversized door kit $85. US ground shipping requires a signature. Max, Quad, and Elite ship freight with curbside delivery.
Edge: iRestore for a door mount in the panel price. Joovv for in-box eyewear on every Gen 3.0 device (Apex also includes blackout goggles). Stands cost extra on both lines except Apex’s included door hook.
Trial, returns, and warranty
Both main panel lines offer 60 days. The fine print differs, and hair-helmet terms must not be mixed into Apex.
| Term | iRestore Apex panels | Joovv Gen 3.0 modular |
|---|---|---|
| Window | 60 days from delivery | 60 days from receipt |
| Restocking | None on returned Apex panels. 20% fee on refused or undeliverable shipments. | No flat restocking fee. Go 2.0 opened returns: $50. |
| Return freight | Customer pays unless iRestore error | Customer pays. Original outbound shipping non-refundable. |
| RMA | Required. Policy dated 25 August 2026. | Required authorization number. |
| Warranty | 10-year limited, tiered. Year 1: repair or replace, two-way US shipping covered. Years 2-10: parts and labor, customer ships. | 2 years on Gen 3.0. 1 year on Go 2.0. |
A 10-year Apex warranty is the longest term in this pairing. It is still limited and tiered: after day 365 the buyer pays shipping. That is not a 2-year term, and years 2-10 are not a doorstep swap. Joovv’s 2-year Gen 3.0 term is shorter. Do not apply the hair system’s 12-month money-back structure, or its 25 percent service fee, to Apex. Apex is 60 days, no restocking fee, buyer-paid return shipping, one return per household.
Edge: iRestore for a 10-year Apex term. Trial windows are both 60 days with buyer-paid return freight on the panel lines. Joovv Go 2.0 is the weaker portable trial (30 days, $50 opened restocking).
FDA language: hair-laser clearance is not panel clearance
This row gets blurred on iRestore, so it is stated plainly. Hair-growth laser helmets are FDA-cleared for that use. That clearance does not travel onto Apex. Apex LED body panels are FDA-registered and 510(k)-exempt, not cleared. The live Apex page also uses Class II medical-device language; registration and 510(k) exemption are not clearance. Homepage “FDA-Cleared” refers to the lasers. Joovv is FDA-registered Class II and itself states that registration is not clearance or approval. “True Medical-Grade” on the Joovv homepage is marketing around that same registration class, not a unique clearance. No home LED panel in this pairing is FDA-cleared as a disease treatment. Sessions may help a general wellness routine.
Edge: Joovv for stating, in its own voice, that registration is not clearance. iRestore for actually holding hair-laser clearance on a different product. Apex panels and Joovv panels share the registered-not-cleared home-panel bucket.
Pricing: live 1 September 2026 catalogs
Stickers below are Shopify variant prices pulled 1 September 2026. Apex has no compare-at. Joovv kits show compare-at above live price. Both sites advertised Labor Day language. Apex’s builder showed a 1-panel $1,099/ea overlay that is not in the variant JSON; this page keeps $1,299 / $2,199 unless checkout confirms it. Joovv homepage said “Shop Labor Day Sale” while Mini through Elite stayed $1,099 through $11,099. No invented codes.

The verdict between these two
Trophy
🏆 Winner: iRestore, for most panel buyers in this pairing
Apex is the more complete single-panel buy at 1 September 2026 Shopify prices: eight named bands including 1060 nm, a 10-year limited warranty, a denser 12-inch face, a door mount in the box, Elite 2160 wavelength control, and Trustpilot 3.6 from 1,092 against 1.6 from 74. Pro 1500 at $1,299 undercuts Solo 3.0 at $1,699 with twice the LED count. Elite 2160 at $2,199 undercuts Joovv Max at $5,999 in the 420-LED neighborhood, with the caveat that Max is a wider kit and Apex Elite is still half body. Gaps remain: no named Apex spectrometer, unpublished LED mix, 36-inch height unless a second panel is purchased, and homepage FDA-Cleared language that belongs to the hair lasers.
Runner-up niche
🥈 Runner-up: Joovv, for Mini-to-Elite expand, Recovery+, and LTI
Joovv still wins a genuine buyer: start at Mini, grow to Elite, keep 50/50 660/850, run Recovery+ at 10 Hz, and point to the LTI Solo 3.0 peak and average. Duo is 72 inches tall. Elite is 26.25 inches wide. In-box eyewear is standard. The brand states that FDA registration is not clearance. Costs are also real: a premium sticker, stands extra, a 2-year warranty, signature and freight shipping, and Trustpilot 1.6 from 74, left in public view.
Dual trophy is allowed when both brands win different buyers outright. Here the overall pick is still iRestore for most panel shoppers. Joovv is the runner-up for the expand-and-Recovery+ niche, not a coin-flip. RLT Home is not crowned on this page.
Keep comparing. See also iRestore vs Mito.
Frequently asked questions
Is iRestore Apex FDA-cleared because the hair helmets are?
No. iRestore hair-growth laser helmets are FDA-cleared. Apex LED body panels are FDA-registered / 510(k)-exempt, not cleared. Homepage “FDA-Cleared” is for the lasers. Do not treat cap clearance as panel clearance.
Is Joovv FDA-cleared or medical-grade in the clearance sense?
Joovv is FDA-registered Class II. The brand itself states that registration is not clearance or approval. “True Medical-Grade” on the Joovv homepage is marketing around that registration. No home panel in this pairing is FDA-cleared as a disease treatment.
Why not put Apex >200 mW/cm² in the same row as LTI 72.4?
Different tools. iRestore does not name the instrument. Light Therapy Insiders named a Hopoo Color spectrometer on Solo 3.0 and published peak 72.4 and average 59.2. Unnamed brand irradiance is not mixed with spectrometer peak-to-peak numbers.
Does dual-chip make Joovv a worse panel?
No. Dual-chip 660 plus 850 per LED is a fact. It spreads both bands across the face and splits package power across two dies. It is not treated here as a smear, a safety issue, or a reason to invent flicker.
Which is better for full-body coverage?
Depends on height versus width. Joovv Duo is 72 inches tall and 8.75 inches wide. Apex is 36 inches tall and 12 inches wide unless a second panel is added. Apex Pro Full Body Bundle is $2,997. Joovv Elite is $11,099 at 72 x 26.25 inches. Match the job, not the model nickname.
Do either of these brands have a discount code on this page?
No. No iRestore code and no Joovv code are invented here. TOP10 is 6 percent off current RLT Home live prices only, and it is mentioned only in the funnel.
