This is not a size-clone fight. iRestore is a hair-first brand (FDA-cleared Professional and Elite helmets) that also sells Apex LED body panels. Those Apex panels are 36 x 12-inch half-body units. RLT Home is a panel-first brand with published seven-band density, spectrometer peaks at six inches, and full-body single panels up to 65 inches. Mixing a hair helmet with a body panel is the fastest way to misread this comparison, so the spec tables below stay on panels only.

Overall winner remains RLT Home. iRestore is the runner-up for buyers who want a hair-led brand that also sells Apex body panels.

iRestore (irestorelaser.com) is Freedom Laser Therapy’s consumer brand, best known for FDA-cleared laser hair-growth helmets. Apex is the later body-care line: two 36 x 12 x 3-inch LED panels (Apex Pro 1500, 300 LEDs; Apex Elite 2160, 432 LEDs), sold standalone or in two-panel and four-panel bundles. RLT Home sells five Total Spectrum panels: RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE.

Both Apex panels and all five RLT Home Total Spectrum panels are FDA-registered home LED devices. That is a listing, not FDA clearance. iRestore’s homepage “FDA-Cleared” language refers to the hair helmets. This page does not mix helmet, mask, or panel irradiance. Prices below were pulled 1 September 2026.

At-a-glance verdict: RLT Home is the better fit for most panel buyers. iRestore is the runner-up for people who want an iRestore hair helmet plus an Apex body panel, or who want a 10-year Apex warranty and an 8-band mix with 590 nm amber and no 480 nm blue.

The brands at a glance

iRestore

A hair-led brand that also sells Apex body panels

iRestore Apex Elite 2160 half-body LED red light therapy panel
iRestore Apex Elite 2160, the 432-LED, 36 x 12-inch half-body panel. Door mount is in the box. Floor, universal, and motorized stands are sold separately.

iRestore built its name on FDA-cleared laser hair-growth helmets. Apex Pro 1500 (300 LEDs) and Apex Elite 2160 (432 LEDs) share one 36 x 12 x 3-inch chassis, eight listed wavelengths, a 30-degree beam, six smart modes, a touchscreen, a magnetic remote, and an app. Elite 2160 adds individual wavelength control. Brand irradiance is greater than 200 mW/cm² at about 6 inches, instrument unnamed. One panel is half body. Full body is a two-panel bundle ($2,997 Pro, $4,797 Elite). Studio four-panel kits are $6,095 and $9,695. Door mount is included. Floor stand is $159 extra.

RLT Home

Published density, seven bands, usage plan

RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE 864 LED flagship red light therapy panel
RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE, the 65 x 20.5-inch, 864-LED flagship.

RLT Home’s line is RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE. The brand publishes the LED percentage for each of seven wavelengths, including 480 nm blue at 6% and 1064 nm at 14%. Nine prebuilt modes were built by filtering the Vladimir Heiskanen photobiomodulation database (about 8,980 studies) down to 1,861 successful human trials. After purchase, the RLT Home science team writes a free personalised weekly usage plan: which mode, how long, how often.

Devices stay offline, with no companion app, which suits those seeking privacy. Spectrometer peaks are published at six inches for every model. Stands ship in the box, motorized electric on RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE. Trial: 60 days, no restocking fee, free insured return shipping.

Hair helmets are a different product class

iRestore still sells FDA-cleared hair growth helmets. They are not Apex panels and do not belong in a panel irradiance table. They are the genuine reason some buyers pick iRestore over a panel-only brand.

iRestore Elite FDA-cleared hair growth helmet, a different product class from Apex body panels
iRestore Elite hair helmet (500 diodes). This is a scalp device, not a body panel. Its output is not used in any Apex spec row below.

Live 1 September 2026, the hair collection advertises Professional at $799 (282 diodes) and Elite at $1,799 (500 diodes). Shopify variant list prices on those records remain $1,499 and $2,699. Helmets use a 12-month money-back structure, not the Apex 60-day panel trial. RLT Home does not sell a helmet. Hair is one of nine panel modes. Body-coverage buyers should ignore helmet diode counts.

Edge: iRestore for a dedicated FDA-cleared hair helmet. RLT Home if hair is only one session type on a body panel. Helmet numbers stay out of the panel tables.

Spectrum and wavelength density: eight listed bands versus seven published shares

Apex lists eight wavelengths. RLT Home lists seven. Count is not the story if LED share is unpublished. iRestore has not published Apex wavelength allocation. RLT Home has.

iRestore Apex: eight listed bands, unpublished mix

Both Apex Pro 1500 and Apex Elite 2160 list the same eight wavelengths:

Wavelength Role (as commonly discussed) Apex allocation
590 nm (amber)Surface skin, tone-oriented sessionsNot published
630 nm (red)Surface skin, collagenNot published
660 nm (red)Surface skin, collagen, hairNot published
810 nm (near infrared)Muscle, joint, brainNot published
830 nm (near infrared)Muscle, joint, brainNot published
850 nm (near infrared)Recovery, fat metabolismNot published
940 nm (near infrared)Deeper tissue, listed by the brandNot published
1060 nm (deep infrared)Joints, deep tissue. Close to, not identical to, 1064 nmNot published

Concede the list. Apex includes 590 nm amber and 940 nm, which RLT Home does not, and uses 1060 nm rather than 1064 nm. The 1060/1064 nm label is the band buyers usually mean when they ask about arthritis and osteoarthritis. Apex omits 480 nm blue on purpose. Brand graphics argue that skipping blue may help evening sessions, which is the argument laid out in the sleep and insomnia guide. Those are real mix differences, not a density win, because LED share is unpublished.

RLT Home: seven bands, published density, including blue

RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, and ELITE share this mix (ULTRA is noted below):

Wavelength Density Role
480 nm (blue)6%Surface, skin-targeting, acne-oriented sessions
630 nm (red)19%Surface skin, collagen
660 nm (red)19%Surface skin, collagen, hair
810 nm (near infrared)19%Muscle, joint, brain
830 nm (near infrared)14%Muscle, joint, brain
850 nm (near infrared)9%Recovery, fat metabolism
1064 nm (deep infrared)14%Joints, deep tissue, brain

RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA: 480 nm 5%, 630 nm 20%, 660 nm 20%, 810 nm 20%, 830 nm 13%, 850 nm 8%, 1064 nm 14%.

RLT Home publishes 14% at 1064 nm and 480 nm blue at 6% (5% on ULTRA). Apex refuses 480 nm on the body panels. Buyers who want blue for surface sessions will prefer RLT Home. Buyers who want 590 nm amber, or no blue at night, will prefer Apex. Wavelength count is not useful until Apex publishes LED share.

Edge: Split by goal. iRestore wins the unpublished-but-listed 8-band set, 590 nm amber, 940 nm, and no-blue Apex mix. RLT Home wins published density, a stated 14% at 1064 nm, and 480 nm for buyers who want it. Density still matters more than wavelength count.

Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties

Solar power meters over-report LED output. Spectrometers are the accurate reference. Peak compares with peak. A brand claim with no named instrument is not a spectrometer peak. These two brands do not publish like-for-like numbers. There is no power winner from mixed data.

RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA 480 LED full-body red light therapy panel
RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA, the 64.3-inch lie-under panel with published six-inch spectrometer peaks.

iRestore states that Apex panels deliver greater than 200 mW/cm² at about 6 inches (15 cm). The instrument is not named. That figure cannot sit in a spectrometer table. Do not import hair-helmet or mask output into this section.

RLT Home publishes spectrometer peaks at six inches for every Total Spectrum panel:

RLT Home device Spectrometer peak @ 6 inches
RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI98.7 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT99.0 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX100.53 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA119.28 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE121.62 mW/cm²

RLT Home’s advantage on this row is line-wide spectrometer transparency, not a crowned power score against an unnamed >200 mW/cm² claim. This review does not convert, scale, or “correct” the Apex number into a spectrometer peak.

Edge: No power winner. Apex states a 6-inch brand figure without naming the instrument. RLT Home publishes spectrometer peaks at 6 inches across RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE.

LED chip design

Apex lists 5W LEDs and does not publish single-chip versus dual-chip or a package code. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE are single-chip 5W. Treat that as a transparency row, not a proven hardware win.

Edge: RLT Home on published single-chip 5W. Apex chip package is not in the public spec.

Beam angle

A narrower beam is more intense on-axis. A wider beam covers edges more easily.

Both Apex panels specify 30 degrees. RLT Home’s default is also 30 degrees. That pairing is even. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA uses multi-beam 15/30/60, so it has 15-degree lenses too. Do not overclaim a focus advantage for Apex against ULTRA. Do not invent a 19-degree Apex beam. The published Apex figure is 30 degrees.

Edge: Even on the 30-degree default. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA on mixed 15/30/60 coverage.

RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE red light therapy panel in use on a motorized stand
RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE delivering a full-body session from a motorized electric stand.

Form factor and coverage

This is the structural gap. Apex is a 36-inch half-body panel. RLT Home already sells 49-inch, 64-inch, and 65-inch single panels. About 64 inches of height is what matters for lie-under use. RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE is 20.5 inches wide. Apex stays at 12 inches unless you buy a second panel.

iRestore Apex Pro 1500 300 LED half-body red light therapy panel
iRestore Apex Pro 1500, the 300-LED, 36 x 12-inch half-body panel. Same chassis as Elite 2160, fewer LEDs, group wavelength control.
iRestore Apex Size / LEDs Closest RLT Home panel Size / LEDs

Apex Elite 2160 (one panel) 36 x 12 x 3 in, 432 LEDs, half body RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX 49.2 x 11.8 in, 360 LEDs, mid-tall. Taller than one Apex, fewer LEDs than Elite 2160
Apex Pro Full Body Bundle (two Pro 1500 panels) Two 36-inch panels on a universal stand, 600 LEDs RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA 64.3 x 11.8 in, 480 LEDs, lie-under, one panel
Apex Elite Full Body Bundle (two Elite 2160 panels) Two 36-inch panels on a universal stand, 864 LEDs RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE 65 x 20.5 in, 864 LEDs, lie-under, one panel

Apex Pro 1500 versus RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT is the honest half-body pairing: Apex is taller (36 vs 30.3 in) with 300 LEDs versus 216. Apex Elite 2160 versus RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX is not a size clone: MAX is 49.2 inches with 360 LEDs, Elite 2160 is 36 inches with 432 LEDs. Two Apex panels can cover full-body height at a bundle price. One RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA or ELITE is already a single full-body panel with the stand in the box. iRestore has no 49-inch middle and no tabletop.

RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX 49 inch mid-tall red light therapy panel
RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX, the 49.2-inch mid-tall panel. Apex has no clone at this height.

Edge: RLT Home for full-body single panels, the 49-inch MAX, and the tabletop MINI. Apex for a dense 36-inch half-body panel, especially Elite 2160 at 432 LEDs.

Treatment modes and personalised guidance

Apex runs six smart modes (Pain Relief, Skin, Pet, Sleep, Recovery, Muscle), dimming 0-100%, and pulsing 0-40 Hz, on a touchscreen and magnetic remote. Sleep is the evening preset, covered in the sleep and insomnia guide; Muscle maps to the muscle recovery page. Apex Elite 2160 adds individual wavelength control. Pro 1500 stays on group control. There is a mobile app.

RLT Home Total Spectrum panels include nine prebuilt modes plus custom: Full Power, Skin and Anti-Aging, Pain and Inflammation, Fat Burn and Weight Loss, Mental Health and Brain, Sleep, Acne, Hair Growth, and Wound Healing. Pulsing is specified up to 5000 Hz. After purchase, the science team writes a free personalised weekly usage plan. Devices stay offline.

Edge: Apex Elite 2160 on individual wavelength control and a touchscreen. RLT Home on mode count plus the automatic personalised plan, and on staying offline.

A door mount is not a floor stand. Budget $159 / $399 / $899 for Apex floor, universal, or motorized stands. RLT Home includes a stand on every Total Spectrum model, so realistic totals add the Apex stand only.

Edge: RLT Home on a floor or electric stand in the box. Apex on touchscreen, magnetic remote, and door-mount convenience if a door is the plan.

User reviews

Public reviews are a ranking criterion on this page, scored from independent Trustpilot listings rather than manufacturer star widgets. On-site shop ratings are not mixed in, because they are a different dataset.

As of 1 September 2026, RLT Home is listed at 4.6 / 5 from 243 reviews on Trustpilot (uk.trustpilot.com/review/redlighttherapyhome.com). iRestore is listed at 3.6 / 5 from 1,092 reviews (trustpilot.com/review/irestorelaser.com). iRestore’s sample is large and mixed across hair helmets, masks, belts, and Apex panels, so it is not an Apex-only score. Summaries note product-quality praise alongside delivery friction and return-policy complaints. Hair-helmet returns use a 12-month structure with a 25% service fee if you return early. Apex panels use 60 days and no restocking. Public reviews often blur those policies.

The scorecard gives user reviews to RLT Home on score (4.6 versus 3.6) with a sample large enough to mean something (243). iRestore’s 1,092-review set is bigger, not higher. RLT Home does not win this row automatically. It wins it on the live numbers.

Edge: RLT Home on public Trustpilot score. iRestore on sample size. Score plus sample size still awards the row to RLT Home.

Trial, returns, and warranty

Apex panels and RLT Home panels both offer 60 days and no restocking fee. Warranty length and who pays to send the panel back are the differences. Hair-helmet terms do not apply to Apex, and Apex terms do not apply to helmets.

RLT Home: 60-day trial, no restocking fee, free insured return shipping, three-year warranty.

iRestore Apex panels (live refund policy, updated 25 August 2026): Customers may return the Apex 1500 or Apex 2160 for a full refund within 60 days of delivery. Customers pay return shipping unless the item is being returned because of a brand error. Returns need a pre-approved RMA. The policy states iRestore does not charge restocking fees on returned Apex LED panels or on stands returned together with the panel. Stands returned without the panel are final sale. Accessories are final sale. Refused or undeliverable outbound shipments incur a 20% fee. Original outbound shipping is not refunded. One Apex panel return per customer or household. International buyers cover return shipping, duties, and VAT, which are not refunded.

That live policy matches the brand pack: 10-year warranty on Apex 1500 and 2160, 60-day trial, no restocking on Apex panels. The 10-year hardware term is the longest warranty in this pairing and the longest among panel brands this site tracks. Hair helmets remain on 1-2 year hardware terms and a 12-month money-back structure that is not the Apex deal.

Edge: iRestore on the 10-year Apex warranty. RLT Home on free insured return shipping. Even on 60 days and no restocking for the panel itself.

A note on FDA

Every home red light panel sold in the United States is FDA-registered. That is a listing, not FDA clearance. Apex panels and RLT Home Total Spectrum panels hold the same style of listing. Apex panels are 510(k)-exempt / registered, not cleared. iRestore’s hair helmets are FDA-cleared as low-level laser hair-growth devices. That clearance does not transfer to Apex panels, Illumina masks, or the Sculpt belt. Apex product pages also use Class II wording. RLT Home uses FDA-registered language. That is a difference in description, not a claim that one body panel is medically superior.

Pricing: an apples-to-apples comparison

Prices below are manufacturer selling prices pulled 1 September 2026 from redlighttherapyhome.com/products.json and irestorelaser.com product JSON (apex-half-body-led-panel, apex-body-panel-stands-system, and the Apex full-body and studio bundle handles). Apex standalone variants are Apex Elite 2160 $2,199 and Apex Pro 1500 $1,299, with empty compare-at fields. The only discount code used here is TOP10, 6% off RLT Home only, rounded to the nearest dollar. There is no iRestore discount code in this article.

TOP10 rounding: $495 × 0.94 = $465.30 → $465. $995 × 0.94 = $935.30 → $935. $1,595 × 0.94 = $1,499.30 → $1,499. $2,595 × 0.94 = $2,439.30 → $2,439. $4,495 × 0.94 = $4,225.30 → $4,225.

Realistic Apex totals add a floor stand at $159 when the buyer wants a standing session. Door mount is already in the Apex box. RLT Home stands are already in the box. Hair-helmet prices stay out of these tiers.

RLT Home is $302 cheaper on sticker ($4,495 versus $4,797) and $572 cheaper with TOP10 ($4,225 versus $4,797). Apex still wins the 10-year warranty and individual wavelength control. Studio bundles exist above this tier: Apex Pro Studio $6,095 and Apex Elite Studio $9,695, both four-panel motorized setups, with no RLT Home clone at that wall-of-light size. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI remains the unmatched tabletop at $495, or $465 with TOP10. Apex has no 12 x 12-inch panel.

The verdict: winner and runner up

When the comparison is run on the data, RLT Home takes the overall win for most panel buyers, and iRestore earns a credible runner-up spot where its hair-led identity genuinely fits. This is not a size-clone page. It is a half-body, hair-adjacent panel line versus a published-density full-body line.

🏆 Winner

RLT Home, for most buyers

For buyers who want a published seven-band mix (including 480 nm blue), spectrometer peaks at six inches across RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE, nine science-built modes, a free personalised weekly usage plan, free insured returns, and full-body single panels with stands in the box, RLT Home is the stronger overall choice.

That edge widens with the TOP10 affiliate code. Adding 6% off at checkout drops RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI to $465, COMPACT to $935, MAX to $1,499, ULTRA to $2,439, and ELITE to $4,225. TOP10 puts the COMPACT $364 under Apex Pro 1500’s $1,299 sticker, puts the ULTRA $558 under the Apex Pro Full Body Bundle’s $2,997, and puts the ELITE $572 under the Apex Elite Full Body Bundle’s $4,797, while every RLT Home advantage stays on the table.

🥈 Runner up

iRestore, for the hair-led buyer who also wants Apex body panels

For buyers who specifically want an FDA-cleared hair helmet and a body panel from one brand, a 10-year Apex warranty, an 8-band mix with 590 nm amber and no 480 nm blue, and individual wavelength control on Apex Elite 2160, iRestore is the better fit. The runner-up is not a small-panel consolation. It is a genuine niche: a hair-first company that also sells 36-inch Apex body panels, with the longest warranty in this pairing. If you do not want a helmet and you do want one 64-inch panel, that niche does not apply.

Both brands back Apex / Total Spectrum panels with 60-day, no-restocking trials. The right choice comes down to which set of priorities matches the buyer’s situation.

Frequently asked questions

Who has better user reviews, iRestore or RLT Home?

On independent Trustpilot listings checked 1 September 2026, RLT Home is 4.6 / 5 from 243 reviews and iRestore is 3.6 / 5 from 1,092 reviews. iRestore’s sample is larger and mostly hair-device buyers, not Apex-only. This page uses Trustpilot, not on-site shop stars, for the comparison.

Are iRestore hair helmets the same as Apex panels?

No. Professional and Elite helmets are FDA-cleared scalp devices (282 and 500 diodes). Apex Pro 1500 and Apex Elite 2160 are 36 x 12-inch LED body panels (300 and 432 LEDs). Helmet irradiance does not belong in a panel table. The brand sells both. This review scores the panels against RLT Home and only mentions helmets as a separate class.

What do Apex Elite 2160 and Apex Pro 1500 cost standalone?

Shopify variant prices pulled 1 September 2026 from the Apex Half Body LED Panel product are $2,199 for Apex Elite 2160 and $1,299 for Apex Pro 1500. Those are standalone panel prices, not bundles. The Apex Pro Full Body Bundle is $2,997. The Apex Elite Full Body Bundle is $4,797. Studio bundles are $6,095 (Pro) and $9,695 (Elite). Floor stand $159, universal $399, motorized $899.

Can Apex’s >200 mW/cm² figure be compared with RLT Home’s spectrometer peaks?

No. iRestore states greater than 200 mW/cm² at about 6 inches and does not name the instrument. RLT Home publishes spectrometer peaks at 6 inches (98.7 to 121.62 mW/cm²). This review does not convert, scale, or crown a power winner from mixed methods.

Does iRestore really have a 10-year warranty on Apex panels?

Yes, on Apex 1500 and Apex 2160, per the brand pack and live product pages. The live refund policy dated 25 August 2026 confirms a 60-day Apex return window with no restocking fee on the panels. Hair helmets use different warranty and money-back terms. Customer pays Apex return shipping.

Is Apex FDA-cleared?

The hair helmets are FDA-cleared. The Apex body panels are FDA-registered / 510(k)-exempt, not cleared. That is the same listing style as RLT Home Total Spectrum panels. Homepage “FDA-Cleared” language is about the hair lasers.

Does TOP10 work on iRestore?

No. TOP10 is 6% off current RLT Home live prices only, rounded to the nearest dollar. This article does not invent an iRestore discount code.

Conclusion

iRestore and RLT Home are not size clones. Apex is a 36 x 12-inch half-body panel from a hair-led brand, with an 8-band list, a 10-year warranty, and standalone live prices of $1,299 (Pro 1500) and $2,199 (Elite 2160). Full body on the iRestore side is a two-panel bundle at $2,997 or $4,797. RLT Home wins published seven-band density, spectrometer peaks at six inches across the line, nine modes plus a free personalised weekly plan, full-body single panels with stands in the box, free insured returns, and the higher Trustpilot score (4.6 / 5 from 243 versus 3.6 / 5 from 1,092). With TOP10, RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT is $935 against Apex Pro 1500 at $1,299, ULTRA is $2,439 against the Apex Pro Full Body Bundle at $2,997, and ELITE is $4,225 against the Apex Elite Full Body Bundle at $4,797. On balance, the data favors RLT Home for most panel buyers, with iRestore the right runner-up for the hair-led buyer who also wants Apex body panels.

Speak with a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new therapy, particularly if you have cancer, are pregnant, or are managing a serious health condition. Home red light panels sold in the United States are FDA-registered.
