Red Light Therapy Top 10 · Brand comparison · September 2026
Sunlighten vs RLT Home (2026)
Medical review: Articles on Red Light Therapy Top 10 are reviewed for scientific accuracy by our medical expert team. This page is wellness information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Sessions with red or near-infrared light may help recovery-oriented or skin-oriented routines. They are not a treatment for disease.
Sunlighten is primarily an infrared sauna company that also sells red light panels. This pairing is about those panels, not the saunas. The RED Light Therapy Panel and RED Light Therapy Mini Panel are 660 nm / 850 nm accessories with app-guided programs and a eucalyptus wood frame. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE are dedicated seven-band home panels (480, 630, 660, 810, 830, 850, 1064 nm) with published LED share, six-inch spectrometer peaks, and a stand in every box. Do not review the sauna as if it were the panel, and do not treat the panel as a sauna. Sunlighten’s own FAQ says the panel is for open air, not a heated cabin.
Winner summary
Overall winner: RLT Home
USD prices below were pulled 1 September 2026 from shop-us.sunlighten.com/products.json (page 1, limit 250) and redlighttherapyhome.com/products.json. Sunlighten catalog stickers are $1,379 for the RED Light Therapy Panel (compare-at $1,589) and $799 for the Mini (compare-at $920). Live product pages also show a Labor Day event, 20% off applied at checkout through 10 September 2026, so checkout currently displays $1,103.20 and $639.20. That is a manufacturer checkout promotion, not a Top 10 code. TOP10 is 6% off current RLT Home live prices only, rounded to the nearest dollar.
At-a-glance verdict: RLT Home is the better fit for most buyers who want a dedicated home panel, a published seven-band mix, spectrometer figures at six inches, a stand already in the price, and a 60-day trial with free returns. Sunlighten is the runner-up if you already live in their sauna ecosystem and want a 660/850 accessory panel with 20+ app programs and a wood frame that looks like furniture.

The brands at a glance
Sunlighten
Sauna company, 660/850 accessory panels, app programs
Sunlighten has sold infrared saunas since 1999. The RED Light Therapy Panel (200 LEDs, 35 x 11 inches, 22 lb) and RED Light Therapy Mini Panel (72 LEDs, 14.5 x 11 inches) sit beside that sauna catalog. They share 660 nm red and 850 nm near-infrared, dual 30/60 degree lenses, a handcrafted eucalyptus wood frame, a remote, and a downloadable app with 20+ programs (skin, muscle recovery, inflammation, energy, sleep, immune, cellulite), each with beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, plus Custom Mode and Quick Start.
The same storefront also sells saunas, ice barrels, sheets, and a RED Light Therapy Mask. Those SKUs are not scored here. The mask is a separate wearable. Only the mask is marketed as 510(k) cleared. The panel’s FDA status is not published on the live panel pages. HSA/FSA is offered at Sunlighten checkout via TrueMed, which is their program, not ours.
RLT Home
Published density, seven bands, usage plan
RLT Home’s line is RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE. The brand publishes LED percentage for seven wavelengths, including 480 nm blue at 6% and 1064 nm at 14%. Nine prebuilt modes were built from the Vladimir Heiskanen photobiomodulation database. After purchase, the science team writes a free personalised weekly usage plan.
Devices stay offline. Spectrometer peaks are published at six inches for every model. Stands ship in the box, motorized electric on RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE. Trial: 60 days, no restocking fee, free insured return shipping. Warranty: 3 years on panels. Home panels are FDA-registered, not cleared. HSA/FSA via TrueMed is also listed on RLT Home, labeled as theirs.
Spectrum and wavelength density: two concentrated bands versus seven published shares
Sunlighten lists two wavelengths. RLT Home lists seven. Count is not the story. Density is: the share of LEDs, and therefore output, in each band. Sunlighten’s 50/50 split on the full panel (100 x 660 nm + 100 x 850 nm) is a real density choice. Every diode sits in the two most commonly marketed home-panel bands. The Mini now publishes the same idea at smaller scale: 36 red + 36 near-infrared. That is not a smear. It is a concentrated two-band array.
RLT Home’s density story is the opposite shape. 660 nm is 19% of the array. 850 nm is 9%. Combined, those two bands are 28% of the diodes. The rest of the array is 480, 630, 810, 830, and 1064 nm, with published percentages. Buyers who want almost all of the panel in 660 and 850 will prefer Sunlighten’s split. Buyers who want 810 nm, 830 nm, 1064 nm, 630 nm, or 480 nm will not find those bands on either Sunlighten panel.
Sunlighten: 660 nm and 850 nm, 50/50
| Wavelength | RED Light Therapy Panel | Mini Panel |
|---|---|---|
| 480 nm (blue) | Not used | Not used |
| 630 nm (red) | Not used | Not used |
| 660 nm (red) | 100 LEDs (50%) | 36 LEDs (50%) |
| 810 nm (near infrared) | Not listed | Not listed |
| 830 nm (near infrared) | Not listed | Not listed |
| 850 nm (near infrared) | 100 LEDs (50%) | 36 LEDs (50%) |
| 1064 nm (deep infrared) | Not used | Not used |
Sessions with 660 nm may help surface-oriented routines. Sessions with 850 nm may help recovery-oriented routines. Independent red / NIR switching is available through Custom Mode on the app. That control is real. It does not add 810 nm or 1064 nm.
RLT Home: seven bands, published percentages
RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, and ELITE share this mix (ULTRA is a close variant with a slightly different 480 nm share):
| Wavelength | Density | Role |
|---|---|---|
| 480 nm (blue) | 6% | Surface, skin-targeting, acne-oriented sessions |
| 630 nm (red) | 19% | Surface skin, collagen |
| 660 nm (red) | 19% | Surface skin, collagen, hair |
| 810 nm (near infrared) | 19% | Muscle, joint, brain |
| 830 nm (near infrared) | 14% | Muscle, joint, brain |
| 850 nm (near infrared) | 9% | Recovery, fat metabolism |
| 1064 nm (deep infrared) | 14% | Joints, deep tissue, brain |
Sessions with 810 nm or 1064 nm may help people who specifically want those deeper bands. Sessions with 480 nm may help people who want a small blue share for surface-oriented routines. Neither claim is a diagnosis.
Edge: Sunlighten on concentrated 660/850 density. RLT Home on published seven-band share, including 810, 830, and 1064 nm.
Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties
Spectrometer figures belong with spectrometer figures. Brand-stated 200 mW/cm² with an unnamed instrument and an unstated method is not comparable to a third-party spectrometer peak. This page keeps those numbers on separate rows. It does not rank Sunlighten as “weak” for publishing a 200 mW/cm² table, and it does not rank RLT Home as “weak” for using a different instrument. Peak is compared with peak. Average with average. Solar-meter readings are not mixed with spectrometer readings.
Spectrometer (independent, named method on RLT Home)
| Model | Spectrometer peak at 6 inches |
|---|---|
| Sunlighten RED Light Therapy Panel | Not published |
| Sunlighten Mini Panel | Not published |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI | 98.7 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT | 99.0 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX | 100.53 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA | 119.28 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE | 121.62 mW/cm² |
RLT Home publishes these peaks on its third-party testing page. Sunlighten does not publish a spectrometer trace, an instrument name, or a lab report for the panel on the pages pulled 1 September 2026. Unpublished is unpublished. That gap is why the spectrometer row is not a mixed-instrument shootout.
Brand-stated table (Sunlighten Light Science Facts, method unstated)
| Distance | Sunlighten stated irradiance |
|---|---|
| 6 inches | 200 mW/cm² |
| 12 inches | 165 mW/cm² |
| 24 inches | 110 mW/cm² |
| 36 inches | 88 mW/cm² |
The live Light Science Facts page also lists max irradiance / power density as 200 mW/cm² and names wavelengths as 660 nm and 850 nm. Product copy repeats “200mW/cm² of power”. The instrument is not named. The method is not named. Those four distances are useful as Sunlighten’s own distance table. They are not a win against a spectrometer, and they are not a loss against a spectrometer. RLT Home also publishes solar-meter figures at eight inches (about 170 to 179 mW/cm²). Those stay in their own bucket too.
Edge: No irradiance winner across instruments. RLT Home wins the spectrometer-documentation row because the peaks exist. Sunlighten’s 200 / 165 / 110 / 88 table is disclosed, not hidden, and is not ranked as weak for honesty.
LED construction: published versus unpublished
Sunlighten does not publish LED type (single-chip, dual-chip, or otherwise) on the live panel or Mini pages. That stays unpublished. Dual-chip is a fact when a brand lists it, not a smear. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, and ELITE use single-chip 5W LEDs. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA is listed as 3535 Dual LED. Single-chip puts one wavelength on one die, which keeps a cleaner peak and puts that die’s power into one band. Dual-chip splits one package across two wavelengths, which can spread surface coverage. Neither construction is described here as a defect. Construction is not output.
Beam angle: dual 30/60 versus a 30-degree line
Sunlighten’s Light Science Facts page lists beam angle as 30 and 60 degrees. Product copy repeats “dual 30° and 60° beam angles”. That dual-lens claim is live and specific. RLT Home’s standard line is 30 degrees. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA is listed as multi-beam 15 / 30 / 60. A wider 60-degree lens may help fill a room at the cost of peak intensity on axis. A tighter 30-degree lens may help keep more energy on the body. This page does not invent a measured beam plot for either brand beyond what they publish.
Edge: Sunlighten for a published dual 30/60 lens on both panel sizes. RLT Home for a consistent 30-degree line, with ULTRA as the multi-beam exception.
Coverage and like-for-like size
Sunlighten sells two rectangular panels. There is no 49-inch or 64-inch SKU in the live catalog. A 35-inch panel is not a full-body lie-under chassis. It can cover torso height for a seated adult. It cannot clone RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA at 64.3 inches or RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE at 65 x 20.5 inches. That is a catalog fact, not a invented weakness.

Edge: RLT Home on every height that exists in both catalogs, and on the heights Sunlighten does not sell. Sunlighten on a 35-inch wood-frame panel if that is the exact furniture object you want.
Modes, app, and the usage plan
Sunlighten’s 20+ preset programs are a genuine feature. Live copy lists skin care, muscle recovery, inflammation, energy, sleep, immune health, and cellulite, each with beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, plus Custom Mode (light type, intensity, session length) and Quick Start. The app also gives distance, time, and positioning prompts. That guided-app niche is real. Award it. RLT Home does not ship a companion app. That is a privacy choice, not a missing update. Nine named modes (Skin and Anti-Aging, Pain and Inflammation, Sleep, Fat Burn and Weight Loss, Mental Health and Brain, Hair Growth, Acne, Wound Healing, Full Power) plus a custom channel mode live on the panel. After checkout, the science team emails a free personalised weekly plan. No account, no cloud log of your sessions.
Edge: Sunlighten for app-guided programs and a remote-plus-phone workflow. RLT Home for named on-device modes plus a human-written weekly plan, and for staying offline.
In the box, stands, and goggles
Sunlighten panel box (live What Is Included): remote, free downloadable app, power cord, optional goggles, 3-year limited warranty. Mini box: Mini Panel, remote, downloadable app, power cord, optional goggles, 3-year limited warranty. Goggles are listed as optional, not standard kit. Confirmed on both live pages 1 September 2026. Mounts are paid add-ons: Floor Stand $149, Desk Stand $174 (compare-at $200), Door Hanger $69, VESA Swivel Arm $50 (Mini, compare-at $58), Mini Mounting Bracket $37, Single Wall Mount $59, Wide Wall Mount $79. Panels are flagged free shipping. Accessory free shipping over $199 with exclusions is the sitewide rule.
RLT Home includes a stand in every Total Spectrum price: non-electric on RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, and MAX, motorized on RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE. Two types of eye protection ship in the box. Shipping is free and insured on the live catalog.
Edge: RLT Home on stand-plus-goggles already in the sticker. Sunlighten on the range of furniture-matching mounts if you want to pick a door hanger, a wood-accent floor stand, or a VESA arm after the fact.
User reviews (independent Trustpilot, 1 September 2026)
This row uses public Trustpilot listings only. Manufacturer on-site stars and “50,000+ reviews” banners are not mixed in. Scores, counts, and the date are named. Award is score plus sample size, not vibes.
Sunlighten
4.7 / 5
3,598 reviews on trustpilot.com/review/sunlighten.com. Pulled 1 September 2026. No Trustpilot listing found for shop-us.sunlighten.com.
RLT Home
4.6 / 5
243 reviews on trustpilot.com/review/redlighttherapyhome.com (UK listing). Pulled 1 September 2026.
On score plus sample size, Sunlighten takes the Trustpilot row: 4.7 from 3,598 versus 4.6 from 243. That award is mathematical. It is also honest about mix. Most of those 3,598 reviews describe saunas. If you only want panel-owner feedback, the Sunlighten sample is diluted. This page still will not invent a panel-only Trustpilot score, and it will not substitute shop stars.
Edge: Sunlighten on the public Trustpilot listing as it actually exists. RLT Home if you want a panel-only sample, which is smaller.
Trial, warranty, and changing your mind
Sunlighten live panel pages: 30-day returns, “try it at home”, 3-year limited residential warranty, 1-year commercial. The warranty line is marked limited and tiered. No restocking fee is stated on the product pages. Return shipping is unpublished. Unpublished stays unpublished.
RLT Home live policy: 60-day returns from the day you receive the panel, no restocking fee, free insured return shipping. Warranty is 3 years on panels and 1 year on stands. The longer window and prepaid return shipping are the practical difference if you are still deciding after week five.
Edge: RLT Home on trial length and return shipping. Warranty years match on the residential side (3 years), with Sunlighten’s commercial term at 1 year and RLT Home’s stand term at 1 year.
FDA wording, the mask, and HSA/FSA
The PANEL’s FDA status is not published on the live Sunlighten panel or Mini pages pulled 1 September 2026. Only Sunlighten’s separate MASK is marketed as 510(k) cleared. This page does not treat the panel as cleared. It does not invent a K-number for the panel, and it does not invent a K-number for the mask either (the mask pages say 510(k) cleared without printing the K-number). Home panels for RLT Home are FDA-registered, not cleared. Registration is a listing. It is not clearance, and it is not approval. No rectangular home panel in this pairing is described as treating disease.
HSA/FSA: Sunlighten still lists HSA/FSA at checkout and documents TrueMed on sunlighten.com/hsa-fsa. That is their checkout path. RLT Home also lists TrueMed. Neither program is a Top 10 discount.
Pricing, TOP10, and Labor Day
Live pull, 1 September 2026. RLT Home from redlighttherapyhome.com/products.json: MINI $495 (compare-at $695), TOP10 $465. COMPACT $995 ($1,295), TOP10 $935. MAX $1,595 ($1,995), TOP10 $1,499. ULTRA $2,595 ($2,995), TOP10 $2,439. ELITE $4,495 ($4,995), TOP10 $4,225. MINI, COMPACT, and MAX include a non-electric stand. ULTRA and ELITE include a motorized stand. Sunlighten from shop-us.sunlighten.com product JSON: Panel $1,379 (compare-at $1,589). Mini $799 (compare-at $920). Floor Stand $149. Desk Stand $174. Door Hanger $69. VESA $50. Live product pages also run a Labor Day checkout promotion, 20% off through 10 September 2026. No Sunlighten coupon is invented here. TOP10 is 6% off current RLT Home live prices only, nearest dollar.
Even after adding Sunlighten’s Floor Stand, the 35-inch panel lands at $1,528 against RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT at $995 with a stand already in the box, or against RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX at $1,595 for a 49.2-inch seven-band chassis. The Mini at $799 ($973 with Desk Stand) sits above RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI at $495 with a stand included. Labor Day checkout narrows those gaps until 10 September 2026. It does not add 810 nm, 1064 nm, a 60-day prepaid return, or a 64-inch SKU.
Who Sunlighten is for
Choose Sunlighten if you already own, or plan to own, a Sunlighten sauna and want a matching 660/850 accessory panel that uses the same app language. Choose it if 20+ guided programs, a remote, and a eucalyptus wood frame that can live in a living room are the reason you opened this page. Choose it if a 50/50 660/850 split is the density you want, not a compromise. The Mini at $799 is the targeted SKU. The 35-inch panel at $1,379 is the large SKU. Budget for a stand. Optional goggles are optional. Use the panel in open air, not inside the sauna. That last point is theirs, from their FAQ.
Who RLT Home is for
Choose RLT Home if you want a dedicated panel brand, a published seven-band mix, and a named six-inch spectrometer peak. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI undercuts the Mini on sticker and includes a stand. RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT and MAX cover heights Sunlighten does not sell in one chassis. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE are lie-under full-body panels with motorized stands. Sessions with 480 nm or 1064 nm may help people who specifically want those bands. The nine named modes and the personalised weekly plan may help people who do not want an account on their phone. The 60-day trial with free insured returns is the lower-risk unbox.
Verdict
Overall winner
🏆 Winner: RLT Home
For most buyers. Seven-band mix with published LED share, spectrometer peaks at six inches, in-stock coverage from 11.8 inches through 65 inches, a stand in every box, nine named modes plus a personalised weekly plan, and a 60-day trial with free insured returns. Public Trustpilot 4.6 / 5 from 243 panel-brand reviews as of 1 September 2026.
Runner-up
🥈 Runner Up: Sunlighten
Genuine niche: infrared-sauna buyers who want a matching 660/850 accessory panel with 20+ app programs, dual 30/60 lenses, and a wood frame. Company Trustpilot 4.7 / 5 from 3,598 reviews is the larger public sample, with the caveat that it is mostly saunas. Not the pick if you need 810 nm, 1064 nm, a 49-inch or 64-inch chassis, or a spectrometer report.
Overall winner remains RLT Home. Sunlighten is the honest sauna-adjacent 660/850 specialist in this pairing, not a seven-band rival and not a 64-inch clone. If the app, the wood frame, and 50/50 660/850 are the brief, the RED Light Therapy Panel or Mini is the Sunlighten to buy. If coverage, spectrum density, spectrometer paperwork, and live price with a stand included are the brief, start with RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT, MAX, or ULTRA and use code TOP10 on RLT Home only.
FAQ
Does Sunlighten or RLT Home win overall in 2026?
RLT Home wins overall for most buyers: seven-band density, named six-inch spectrometer peaks, in-stock full-body coverage, a stand in the box, and a 60-day trial with free returns. Sunlighten is the runner-up for infrared-sauna buyers who want a matching 660/850 accessory panel with 20+ app programs.
Is Sunlighten a sauna or a red light panel brand?
Primarily a sauna brand that also sells red light panels. This page scores the RED Light Therapy Panel and Mini Panel only. It does not score mPulse, Signature, Amplify, Solo, or ice barrels. The panel is not a sauna. Sunlighten says not to use the panel in a heated cabin.
Is two wavelengths worse than seven?
Not automatically. Density matters more than count. Sunlighten puts 50% of the full panel at 660 nm and 50% at 850 nm. That is a concentrated two-band design. RLT Home publishes 660 nm at 19% and 850 nm at 9%, with the rest in 480, 630, 810, 830, and 1064 nm. Pick the density map, not the bigger integer.
Can I compare 200 mW/cm² with RLT Home’s spectrometer peaks?
No. Sunlighten’s 200 mW/cm² at 6 inches (then 165, 110, 88) does not name the instrument. RLT Home’s 98.7 to 121.62 mW/cm² figures are spectrometer peaks at 6 inches. Different instruments. This page keeps them on separate rows and does not crown an irradiance winner across methods.
What do the Trustpilot scores actually say?
As of 1 September 2026, Sunlighten is 4.7 / 5 from 3,598 reviews on trustpilot.com/review/sunlighten.com (company-wide, mostly saunas). RLT Home is 4.6 / 5 from 243 reviews on trustpilot.com/review/redlighttherapyhome.com. Sunlighten wins the row on score plus sample size. On-site shop widgets are not used.
Is the Sunlighten panel FDA-cleared?
The panel’s FDA status is not published. Only the separate MASK is marketed as 510(k) cleared. This page does not treat the panel as cleared and does not invent a K-number. RLT Home home panels are FDA-registered, not cleared. Registration is a listing.
Is there a discount code?
TOP10 is 6% off current RLT Home live prices only, rounded to the nearest dollar. There is no Sunlighten code in this article. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI $465, COMPACT $935, MAX $1,499, ULTRA $2,439, ELITE $4,225 with TOP10. Sunlighten’s Labor Day 20% checkout promotion through 10 September 2026 is theirs, applied at checkout, not a code we invented.
Are goggles included?
Sunlighten lists optional goggles under What Is Included. They are not standard kit. RLT Home includes two types: reading glasses and blackout goggles.
Which sizes actually map?
Mini versus RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI is the tabletop pairing (both 72 LEDs). The 35-inch panel sits between RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT (30.3 in) and MAX (49.2 in). There is no Sunlighten map for RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA or ELITE. The full Sunlighten catalog, lineup, and pricing notes sit in the Sunlighten red light therapy review.
