CytoLED vs RLT Home: Which Red Light Therapy Brand Wins in 2026?
Medical review: All articles on Red Light Therapy Top 10 are reviewed for scientific accuracy and evidence-based relevance by our medical expert team. This page is wellness information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Sessions may help some people. Home panels sold for general wellness are FDA-registered where a US listing exists, not FDA-cleared or FDA-approved.
CytoLED is a Netherlands brand that publishes full 660 nm and 850 nm irradiance tables, benchmarked to a spectroradiometer, and prices the line in euros from a Rotterdam warehouse. RLT Home is a California seven-band line with published LED density, six-inch spectrometer peaks, nine science-built modes, and a free personalised weekly usage plan. This is a two-band research-dose catalog versus a seven-band full-height catalog, not a size-clone fight.

The brands at a glance
CytoLED
The honest 660/850, EU research-dose specialist
CytoLED is headquartered in the Netherlands and ships from Rotterdam. The live catalog is six panels that share one mix: 660 nm and 850 nm, half the LEDs on each wavelength, with a published 1.3:1 irradiance ratio in favour of 660 nm. Zero is a 35-LED portable with mix only. One and One Plus are 70-LED tabletops. Duplex, Triplex, and Pentaplex scale that same 8.7-inch-wide chassis to 25.8, 38.2, and 59.4 inches. CytoSleep Glasses (€85 / $101) and a wheeled Boot Stand (€120 or €150) sit beside the panels.
The brand thesis is measurement honesty. Product pages publish distance tables from 1 cm to 200 cm, measured with a Sanwa LP1 and benchmarked to an ILT950 spectroradiometer. Mix numbers use a 0.824 correction factor. CytoLED tells buyers that many 100+ mW/cm² headlines come from solar power meters, and that most academic photobiomodulation work sits in a 10 to 50 mW/cm² window. Those low published figures are the point, not a miss. Warranty is two years. Trial is 30 days. Return shipping is on the customer.
RLT Home
Published density, seven bands, usage plan
RLT Home’s line is RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE. The brand publishes LED share for seven wavelengths, including 480 nm blue at 6% and 1064 nm at 14% on four of the five panels (ULTRA’s split is slightly different, still 14% at 1064 nm). Nine prebuilt modes were built by filtering the Vladimir Heiskanen photobiomodulation database. After purchase, the science team writes a free personalised weekly usage plan.
Devices stay offline. Spectrometer peaks are published at six inches for every model. Stands ship in the box, motorized electric on RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE. Trial: 60 days, no restocking, free insured return shipping. Warranty: three years. FDA-registered listing. HSA/FSA via TrueMed. Two sets of eyewear in every panel box.
Spectrum and wavelength density: two bands versus seven
Density, the share of output in each band, is the story. CytoLED publishes one mix for the whole line. RLT Home publishes a seven-band table, with a small ULTRA variant. Wavelength count is not a score by itself. A published two-band ratio can still be the right tool if 660 and 850 nm are the only bands you want.
CytoLED: 660 nm and 850 nm, 1.3:1 output
Every CytoLED panel emits 660 nm (visible red) and 850 nm (near-infrared). LED count is 50/50. Irradiance is not 50/50: the brand states a 1.3:1 ratio, about 57% of the mixed output at 660 nm and 43% at 850 nm. That is a surface-weighted two-band panel. There is no 630 nm, no 810 nm, no 830 nm, no 1064 nm, and no 480 nm blue. All models except Zero let you run red only, NIR only, or both.
That is a genuine niche. Buyers who want only the two most-cited LED wavelengths, with a published output split and a switch to isolate them, will prefer CytoLED. Buyers who want 810 nm, 1064 nm, or a small blue share will not find those bands here.
RLT Home: seven bands, including blue and 1064
RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, and ELITE share 480 nm 6%, 630 nm 19%, 660 nm 19%, 810 nm 19%, 830 nm 14%, 850 nm 9%, 1064 nm 14%. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA is 480 nm 5%, 630 nm 20%, 660 nm 20%, 810 nm 20%, 830 nm 13%, 850 nm 8%, 1064 nm 14%. Combined 810 plus 1064 is 33% on the main mix and 34% on ULTRA — the deep band buyers usually mean for arthritis and osteoarthritis. That 810 nm share is also the band most often discussed for muscle recovery. The 480 nm slice is the blue surface channel used in skin-oriented sessions. CytoLED has 0% in 810 nm and 0% in 1064 nm. The two 660/850 shares are also different jobs: CytoLED is almost all of the panel in those two bands. RLT Home puts 19% plus 9% (or 20% plus 8% on ULTRA) there, and spends the rest of the LED budget on 480, 630, 810, 830, and 1064 nm.
Edge: Split by goal. CytoLED wins published 660:850 output ratio and a two-band switch. RLT Home wins seven-band density, 810 nm, 1064 nm, and 480 nm. Density still matters more than wavelength count.
Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties
Solar power meters over-report narrowband LED output. Spectrometers are the accurate reference. Peak compares with peak. Average compares with average. A 1 cm figure is not a 6-inch figure. A 50 cm figure is not a 6-inch figure either.
These two brands do not build for the same working distance. CytoLED publishes a 1 to 200 cm table and asks 30-degree models to be used at 50 cm or more so the beams converge. RLT Home publishes six-inch spectrometer peaks and is used at a stand-off on an included stand. There is no honest power winner from mixing those jobs.
CytoLED One mix values from the live product table, Sanwa LP1 with ILT950 benchmark, 0.824 mix correction: 49.23 mW/cm² at 1 cm, 39 mW/cm² at 10 cm, 38.09 mW/cm² at 20 cm, 36.92 mW/cm² at 30 cm, 32.91 mW/cm² at 50 cm. CytoLED Triplex mix: 49.23 at 1 cm, 38.87 at 10 cm, 37.96 at 20 cm, 36.92 at 30 cm, 34.2 at 50 cm. CytoLED Pentaplex mix: 51.82 at 1 cm, 40.29 at 10 cm, 38.35 at 20 cm, 36.28 at 30 cm. CytoLED Zero mix only: 48.71 at 1 cm, 35.11 at 10 cm, 30.45 at 20 cm, 24.88 at 30 cm. Six inches is 15.24 cm, between the 10 cm and 20 cm rows. This page does not invent a 15 cm interpolation.
Light Therapy Insiders independently measured the CytoLED Triplex at 54 mW/cm² average at 6 inches. That is a third-party average, not a peak. Do not park it next to RLT Home’s six-inch peaks as if they were the same statistic.
RLT Home publishes spectrometer peaks at six inches for every Total Spectrum panel:
| RLT Home device | Spectrometer peak @ 6 inches |
|---|---|
| RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI | 98.7 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT | 99.0 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX | 100.53 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA | 119.28 mW/cm² |
| RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE | 121.62 mW/cm² |
Do not convert CytoLED’s 50 cm rows to six inches, or RLT Home’s six-inch peaks to 50 cm. Peaks are not averages. CytoLED’s 36 to 40 mW/cm² mix around 10 to 20 cm is an honest spectrometer-benchmarked table, not a weak panel. RLT Home’s advantage here is line-wide six-inch peak transparency on a higher-output chassis, not a reason to call CytoLED’s numbers fake.
Edge: No single power winner. CytoLED for published 1 to 200 cm tables and research-dose alignment. RLT Home for six-inch spectrometer peaks across RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE. Different distances, mixed peak versus table-point, and different jobs.
LED chips and build
CytoLED lists 3W LEDs with reflectors and lenses. Max theoretical wattage is LED count times 3W (Zero 105W theoretical, 43W operating; One 210W theoretical, 106W operating; Pentaplex 1,050W theoretical, 506W operating). The chip package (3535, 3030, single vs dual) is not published. This page does not invent it.
RLT Home lists 3535 5W LEDs. The live comparison table marks RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, and ELITE as 3535 LED and RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA as 3535 Dual LED. Housing is aluminum on the three smaller panels and iron on the two full-body panels. CytoLED does not publish housing metal on the live product cards used here.
Edge: RLT Home for a published 3535 5W package. CytoLED for published operating wattage versus theoretical 3W-times-LED-count, which is itself a honesty tell. Chip-package winner stays with the brand that names the package.
Beam angle and working distance
CytoLED One, One Plus, Duplex, and Triplex use a 30-degree beam so the panel can be used across a room. Zero and Pentaplex use 60 degrees. The FAQ is blunt: if you see little circles of light on your body, you are too close. Minimum recommended distance is 50 cm on 30-degree models and 30 cm on 60-degree models.
RLT Home defaults to 30 degrees. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA adds a 15/30/60 selector. That is the only Total Spectrum panel with a published multi-angle beam. Working distance is six-inch data plus stand-off on the included stand, not a 50 cm rule.
Edge: CytoLED for a documented 30-degree distance-use table out to 200 cm, and for saying out loud that contact use leaves unmerged spots. RLT Home for the 15/30/60 selector on RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and for publishing the six-inch peak at the distance most US buyers actually use.
Coverage and size ladder
Width is the sleeper spec. Every CytoLED panel is 8.7 inches wide except Zero (9.1 inches). Height scales: Zero 9.4 inches, One and One Plus 13.2 inches, Duplex 25.8 inches, Triplex 38.2 inches, Pentaplex 59.4 inches. Pentaplex is tall enough to claim full-body coverage, and the 60-degree beam is meant to widen the field at 30 cm or more. It is still a skinny panel. A standing adult will get a tall strip, not a 20-inch-wide wall of light.
RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI is 11.8 x 11.4 inches (72 LEDs). RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT is 30.3 x 11.8 inches (216 LEDs). RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX is 49.2 x 11.8 inches (360 LEDs), the mid-tall slot CytoLED skips. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA is 64.3 x 11.8 inches (480 LEDs). RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE is 65 x 20.5 inches (864 LEDs). ELITE is the only panel in this pairing whose width is in a different class.
Edge: RLT Home for the 49-inch MAX and for ELITE’s 20.5-inch width. CytoLED for a slim 8.7-inch full-height Pentaplex that is easier to place in a narrow European hallway, if you accept the width trade.
Modes, dimmer, and the usage plan
CytoLED keeps controls simple. Zero is on/off, mix only, no timer, no dimmer. One adds a timer and a red / NIR / both switch. One Plus adds a dimmer, which is the literature-matching tool in this pairing: you can drop irradiance without stepping further back. Duplex, Triplex, and Pentaplex keep the timer and wavelength switch, no dimmer. Default timer is 10 minutes. There is no app and no nine-mode library.
RLT Home ships nine science-built modes (including Pain and Inflammation and Sleep) plus custom, with a four-channel split (red, blue, NIR, 1064 nm) and pulsing from 0 to 5,000 Hz on the live spec table. After checkout, the science team writes a free personalised weekly usage plan. That plan is the software layer CytoLED does not sell. CytoLED’s counter is email depth: product-page quotes mention usage questions answered at length, and after-purchase support is listed as indefinite. A written weekly plan is still the more structured offer.
Edge: CytoLED One Plus for a hardware dimmer. RLT Home for nine modes plus a free written weekly plan.
In the box, stands, and extras
CytoLED Zero, One, and One Plus include an integrated stand or a stable base. Duplex and Triplex need the Small Boot Stand at €120, or the panel-plus-stand bundle (€819 Duplex, €1,069 Triplex, €50 under buying both at list). Pentaplex needs the Large Boot Stand at €150, or the €1,799 bundle. CytoSleep Glasses are a separate €85 / $101 SKU that block short-wavelength light for evening use. They are not red light therapy panels. Eye protection for the panels themselves is not listed on the live product cards.
Every RLT Home Total Spectrum panel includes a stand, a remote, two sets of eyewear (reading plus blackout), a door kit on COMPACT and up, and a power cable. The stand is non-electric on RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, and MAX. It is motorized electric on RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE. The only extra stand SKU is the $495 electric option for COMPACT and MAX (compare-at $795).
Edge: RLT Home for a stand and two sets of eyewear in every panel box. CytoLED for integrated stands on the three small models, and for the CytoSleep Glasses accessory if evening light hygiene is part of the same order.
User reviews (public Trustpilot, 1 September 2026)
This row uses independent public Trustpilot listings, pulled at write time. Manufacturer on-site star widgets and homepage testimonials are not mixed in. Scores are not invented. A thin or missing sample still gets a named result.
CytoLED
No listing
No public Trustpilot profile for cytoled.com was found at write time. CytoLED publishes named homepage quotes. Those are manufacturer-hosted, so they do not fill this row.
RLT Home
4.6 / 5
Live public Trustpilot. Sample size is large enough to use. This page does not harvest individual review text.
Edge: RLT Home, on score plus sample size. CytoLED cannot win a Trustpilot row with no public listing. That is a sample-size result, not a claim that CytoLED customers are unhappy.
Trial, warranty, and returns
CytoLED: 30-day satisfaction guarantee from delivery, no questions asked, 100% refund if the panel comes back in good condition. CytoLED does not cover return shipping and is not liable for loss or damage on the way back. Warranty is two years. After-purchase support is listed as indefinite.
RLT Home: 60 days, no restocking fee, free insured return shipping. Warranty is three years. That is a longer window and a cheaper reverse-logistics path, especially from the US back to a Netherlands warehouse versus an insured US return.
Edge: RLT Home for trial length, free return shipping, and the extra warranty year. CytoLED for a clean 30-day no-questions policy if you already live close to Rotterdam and can eat the outbound postage.
FDA, disclaimers, and what “registered” means
No rectangular home red light panel in this pairing is FDA-cleared or FDA-approved. Registration is a facility-and-listing step, not a review of clinical claims.
CytoLED’s footer is explicit: the site has not been evaluated by the FDA or any other medical body, and the products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Treat CytoLED as an EU general-wellness device with a published disclaimer, not as a US-cleared medical device.
RLT Home is FDA-registered. That is the same class of listing other US panel brands use. It is not clearance. HSA/FSA via TrueMed is published on RLT Home. CytoLED does not publish an HSA/FSA path.
Edge: RLT Home for an FDA-registered listing and TrueMed. CytoLED for not over-claiming. Neither brand is cleared.

Zero undercuts RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI by $140 before TOP10, with half the LEDs and two wavelengths. One is $73 above MINI at the USD display price, 70 LEDs versus 72, and still only 660/850. One Plus is the dimmer SKU. MINI wins if you want 480 through 1064 nm in a tabletop. Zero wins if sticker and portability are the whole job.
Tier 2: Mid panel. CytoLED Duplex vs RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT
| Item | CytoLED Duplex | RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT |
|---|---|---|
| LEDs | 140 | 216 |
| Panel dimensions (H x W) | 25.8 x 8.7 in | 30.3 x 11.8 in |

Duplex is cheaper on panel sticker. Add the boot stand and the EUR bundle is €819. RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT already includes a stand, 76 more LEDs, 4.5 more inches of height, and 3.1 more inches of width. TOP10 makes COMPACT $935. The mid-panel row is a coverage-and-spectrum buy, not a $50 sprint.
Tier 3: Tall half-body. CytoLED Triplex vs RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX
| Item | CytoLED Triplex | RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX |
|---|---|---|
| LEDs | 210 | 360 |
| Panel dimensions (H x W) | 38.2 x 8.7 in | 49.2 x 11.8 in |

| Realistic total | €1,069 bundle | $1,595, or $1,499 with TOP10 |
| Body coverage | Half-body strip, 8.7 in wide. LTI 54 mW/cm² average at 6 in. | Mid-tall 49-inch panel. Two positions for a standing adult. |
Triplex is CytoLED’s long-time half-body flagship and the panel Light Therapy Insiders actually measured. It is 11 inches shorter and 3.1 inches narrower than RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX, with 150 fewer LEDs. MAX is the 49-inch slot CytoLED does not clone. If you want that height in one chassis, MAX is the row. If you want a measured 38-inch 660/850 strip from Europe, Triplex is the row.
Tier 4: Full-body. CytoLED Pentaplex vs RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA / ELITE
| Item | CytoLED Pentaplex | RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA | RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE |
|---|---|---|---|
| LEDs | 350 | 480 | 864 |
| Panel dimensions (H x W) | 59.4 x 8.7 in | 64.3 x 11.8 in | 65 x 20.5 in |
| Panel price | €1,699 / $2,012 | $2,595 (compare-at $2,995). TOP10 $2,439 | $4,495 (compare-at $4,995). TOP10 $4,225 |
| Stand | €150 large boot stand, or €1,799 bundle | Motorized electric included | Motorized electric included |
| Realistic total | €1,799 bundle | $2,595, or $2,439 with TOP10 | $4,495, or $4,225 with TOP10 |
| Body coverage | Tall, skinny, 60° beam. Brand calls it full-body. | Lie-under 64.3 in. 15/30/60 beam. | Lie-under 65 in, 20.5 in wide. |
Pentaplex undercuts RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA by about $580 before TOP10, then you add a €150 wheeled stand. ULTRA includes a motorized stand, 130 more LEDs, 4.9 more inches of height, and 3.1 more inches of width. ELITE is a different class: 864 LEDs and 20.5 inches of width. Pentaplex is the full-body CytoLED SKU. It is not a width clone of ELITE.

The verdict: winner and runner up
RLT Home takes the overall win for most buyers. CytoLED earns a genuine runner-up spot where its philosophy fits: honest two-band, EU-shipped, research-dose panels versus a seven-band full-height US line. That is not a size-clone fight, and the low CytoLED milliwatt tables are not a reason to dismiss the brand.

FAQ
Does CytoLED or RLT Home win overall in 2026?
RLT Home is the overall winner for most buyers. CytoLED is the runner-up for honest two-band, EU-shipped, research-dose panels. The dual verdict is the point. Sessions may help. Neither brand is presented as treating disease.
Why are CytoLED irradiance numbers so much lower than RLT Home?
Method and distance, not a broken panel. CytoLED publishes Sanwa LP1 tables benchmarked to an ILT950, with a 0.824 mix correction, and asks 30-degree models to be used at 50 cm or more. RLT Home publishes spectrometer peaks at 6 inches. Peak is not average. 50 cm is not 6 inches. CytoLED’s 36 to 40 mW/cm² mix around 10 to 20 cm sits in the 10 to 50 mW/cm² window the brand cites from the literature. Light Therapy Insiders measured Triplex at 54 mW/cm² average at 6 inches. Do not compare that average with RLT Home’s 98.7 to 121.62 mW/cm² peaks.
Is CytoLED FDA-cleared?
No. CytoLED states that its products have not been evaluated by the FDA. RLT Home is FDA-registered. Registration is a listing, not a clearance. No home panel in this pairing is FDA-cleared or FDA-approved.
What does TOP10 do on this page?
TOP10 is 6% off the current RLT Home live price, nearest dollar: RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI $465, COMPACT $935, MAX $1,499, ULTRA $2,439, ELITE $4,225. It does not apply to CytoLED. This page does not invent a CytoLED code.
Can I use CytoLED Pentaplex as a full-body panel?
CytoLED calls Pentaplex a full-body solution: 59.4 inches tall, 350 LEDs, 60-degree beam. Width is still 8.7 inches. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA is 64.3 x 11.8 inches with a motorized stand. RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE is 65 x 20.5 inches. If width matters as much as height, ELITE is the full-body chassis. If a slim 60-degree strip from Europe is enough, Pentaplex is the CytoLED answer.
Does CytoLED have Trustpilot reviews?
No public Trustpilot listing for cytoled.com was found on 1 September 2026. RLT Home is 4.6 / 5 from 243 reviews on trustpilot.com/review/redlighttherapyhome.com. Homepage testimonials on cytoled.com are not used as a substitute score.
Which tabletop should I buy, CytoLED Zero or RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI?
Zero if you want the lowest sticker (€299 / $355), two bands, and a portable mix-only panel. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI if you want 72 LEDs, seven wavelengths including 1064 nm, a stand, two sets of eyewear, and TOP10 at $465. One (€479 / $568) sits between them with a 30-degree beam and a wavelength switch.
