Wavelengths and density
NrG Light panels list nine wavelengths: 530 nm green, 590 nm amber, 630, 660 and 670 nm red, and 810, 830, 850 and 1060 nm near infrared. NrG does not publish the share per band, but each channel dims from 0 to 100%, and panels pulse from 1 to 10,000 Hz.
PlatinumLED BIOMAX lines list seven bands, including 480 nm and 1060 nm, and do not publish the full share per band. Neither brand ranks on band count alone, and neither publishes full density.
Edge: NrG Light on per-channel control.
Power and Irradiance: Spectrometer Readings
NrG Light publishes its own spectrometer readings at 6 inches. On the PHOENIX page it names the instrument, an OHSP-350IR spectrometer, for 82.501 mW/cm² (nrglight.com/phoenix; the SPARK handheld reads 55.643 at 3 inches on the same instrument, nrglight.com/spark). The AURA (65.3 mW/cm²) and AURORA (75.1 mW/cm²) spec tables list “spectrometer irradiance” at 6 inches but do not name the instrument. NrG does not say whether any figure is a peak or an averaged reading. These are brand-published spectrometer readings, not independent third-party figures. NrG’s solar-meter figures are not used.
Light Therapy Insiders (LTI) measured the BIOMAX 900 with a spectrometer at 6 inches: about 113 mW/cm² peak and about 90.3 average; BIOMAX 450: about 96 peak and 72 average. Older solar-meter claims are not used.
PlatinumLED’s figure is independent and includes a peak and an average. NrG’s is its own and is not labelled peak or average, so the two are not ranked against each other on power.
Edge: PlatinumLED on independent data. Not ranked on power.
FDA, returns, and warranty
NrG Light says its panels are FDA-listed Class II devices under product code ILY (therapeutic infrared lamp, which FDA lists as 510(k)-exempt) and that listing is not clearance. openFDA returned no NrG Light 510(k) on 3 November 2026. Listed, not cleared.
NrG Light accepts returns within 60 days of delivery with prior authorization, states no standard restocking fee, and the customer pays return shipping or freight on elective returns. Panels carry a 3-year warranty, the SPARK handheld 1 year (nrglight.com returns and warranty pages, 3 November 2026).
PlatinumLED product copy uses “FDA Class II Medical Device” wording, while its footer describes the products as general wellness products. openFDA returned no 510(k) for PlatinumLED or BIOMAX on 3 November 2026. Not cleared.
PlatinumLED offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee on LED panels (not stands or accessories). The customer pays return shipping, and a 20% restocking fee applies to elective returns. The warranty is 3 years.
Edge: NrG Light on restocking fee. Even on warranty. Neither is FDA-cleared.
