Kala is a Canadian LED-panel line built around 660 nm and 850 nm, with a rechargeable Mini 2.0 that adds 630 nm and 830 nm in two modes, dual-chip Elite packages, four-core Mini emitters, and Pulse Recovery+ frequency control. RLT Home is the seven-band Total Spectrum line (480, 630, 660, 810, 830, 850, 1064 nm) with published LED share, six-inch spectrometer peaks, nine science-built modes, a free personalised weekly plan, and in-stock full-body panels. Hats, face masks, wands, neck pieces, sauna blankets, and saunas are out of this pairing. These are not size clones. A $339.99 Mini 2.0 does not cover a body the way RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX does.

Overall winner remains RLT Home. Kala is the runner-up for a 660/850 Canadian panel with a four-core Mini 2.0, dual-chip Elite, and independent red / NIR switching.

This is not a size-clone fight. Kala’s live LED-panel catalog on 1 September 2026 is Mini 2.0 (102 x 146 mm handheld), Pro (14 x 9 inches), Elite (900 x 220 mm), Elite Duo (two Elites), and Quad (four Elites on a mobile stand). Masks, hats, wands, neck pieces, sauna blankets, infrared saunas, and pet beds are on the same store and are not scored here. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE run from a 72-LED tabletop to a 65-inch lie-under panel, all in stock. USD prices below were pulled 1 September 2026 from kalaredlight.com/en-us/products.json and redlighttherapyhome.com/products.json. The default kalaredlight.com feed without /en-us is a CAD storefront and is not mixed into these USD rows.

At-a-glance verdict: RLT Home is the better fit for most buyers who want an in-stock full-body or mid-tall panel, a published seven-band mix, spectrometer figures at six inches, and a 60-day trial with free returns. Kala is the runner-up for a Canadian 660/850 panel, a four-wavelength Mini 2.0, dual-chip Elite construction, and independent red / NIR modes.

Kala Therapy (Kala Red Light) is a Canadian brand. The LED panels in this pairing are Mini 2.0, Pro, Elite, Elite Duo, and Quad. Large panels run 660 nm red and 850 nm near-infrared at a published 1:1 split, with separate red, NIR, and combined modes plus Pulse Recovery+ frequencies. Mini 2.0 is the exception: 630, 660, 830, and 850 nm in two modes, USB-C rechargeable, 546.3 g.

Elite is listed as dual-chip. Mini 2.0 is listed as four-core / quad-core. Those are construction facts. They do not double irradiance by themselves, and they are not a reason to dismiss the line. Tech specs also list 0.00 EMF at 4 inches, a 2-year warranty, and a 30-day return with a $15 restocking fee. The storefront shows an “FDA Cleared” badge. This page did not verify a 510(k) K-number for the panels.

RLT Home

Published density, seven bands, usage plan

RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE 864 LED flagship red light therapy panel
RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE, the 65 x 20.5-inch, 864-LED flagship in a single chassis. Live price $4,495, $4,225 with TOP10.

RLT Home’s line is RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE. The brand publishes LED percentage for seven wavelengths, including 480 nm blue at 6% and 1064 nm at 14%. Nine prebuilt modes were built from the Vladimir Heiskanen photobiomodulation database. After purchase, the science team writes a free personalised weekly usage plan.

Devices stay offline. Spectrometer peaks are published at six inches for every model. Stands ship in the box, motorized on RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE. Trial: 60 days, no restocking fee, free insured return shipping. Warranty: 3 years. FDA-registered, same listing.

Spectrum and wavelength density: the most important difference

Kala’s large panels list two wavelengths. Mini 2.0 lists four. RLT Home lists seven. Count is not the story. Density is: the share of LEDs, and therefore output, in each band. Kala publishes a 1:1 660:850 split on Pro, Elite, Duo, and Quad. RLT Home publishes a seven-band percentage table. Mini 2.0 does not publish LED share across 630, 660, 830, and 850 nm.

Kala: 660 and 850 on the big panels, four bands on Mini 2.0

Wavelength Kala large panels (Pro, Elite, Duo, Quad) Kala Mini 2.0
480 nm (blue)Not usedNot used
630 nm (red)Not usedMode 2 with 830 nm

850 nm (near infrared)1:1 with 660 nm. Independent NIR modeMode 1 with 660 nm
1064 nm (deep infrared)Not usedNot used

Independent red / NIR switching is a real Kala control, not a smear of RLT Home’s mixed array. Sessions with 660 nm may help surface-oriented routines. Sessions with 850 nm may help recovery-oriented routines. Buyers who want 810 nm, 480 nm, or 1064 nm will not find those bands on Kala’s LED panels.

RLT Home: seven bands, published percentages

RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, and ELITE share this mix (ULTRA is noted below):

Wavelength Density Role
480 nm (blue)6%Surface, skin-targeting, acne-oriented sessions
630 nm (red)19%Surface skin, collagen
660 nm (red)19%Surface skin, collagen, hair
810 nm (near infrared)19%Muscle, joint, brain
830 nm (near infrared)14%Muscle, joint, brain
850 nm (near infrared)9%Recovery, fat metabolism
1064 nm (deep infrared)14%Joints, deep tissue, brain

RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA: 480 nm 5%, 630 nm 20%, 660 nm 20%, 810 nm 20%, 830 nm 13%, 850 nm 8%, 1064 nm 14%.

That 14% at 1064 nm is a published band Kala does not carry. Combined 810 + 1064 on RLT Home is 33%. Kala’s large panels have 850 nm and no published 810 or 1064, so a combined deep-NIR percentage cannot be scored the same way. Mini 2.0 adds 830 nm in Mode 2 and still omits 810 and 1064. RLT Home includes 480 nm at 6% (5% on ULTRA). Kala omits blue on these LED panels. Density still matters more than wavelength count.

Edge: RLT Home for published density, 1064 nm in the mix, 810 nm share, and 480 nm for those who want it. Kala for buyers who specifically want 660 and 850 only, with independent red / NIR switching, plus Mini 2.0’s extra 630 and 830 nm in a handheld. Density still beats wavelength count.

Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties

Solar power meters over-report LED output. Spectrometers are the accurate reference. Peak compares with peak. Average compares with average. A brand-stated 161 is not automatically a six-inch spectrometer peak, and it should not be converted.

These two brands do not publish like-for-like numbers. That is the whole section. There is no power winner from mixed data.

RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA 480 LED full-body red light therapy panel
RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA, the 64.3-inch lie-under panel with published six-inch spectrometer peaks.

Kala’s live tech specs, pulled 1 September 2026 from product pages, are brand-stated and do not name the instrument:

Kala device Brand-stated irradiance Note
Mini 2.0100 mW/cm² at the surface of the LEDContact / 0-inch figure. No 6-inch number published
Pro Panel135 mW/cm² at distances greater than 6 inchesInstrument not named
Elite / Duo / Quad161 mW/cm² at 6 inchesInstrument not named. Dual-chip Elite does not make this a spectrometer peak

RLT Home publishes spectrometer peaks at six inches for every RLT Home Total Spectrum panel:

RLT Home device Spectrometer peak @ 6 inches
RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI98.7 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT99.0 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX100.53 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA119.28 mW/cm²
RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE121.62 mW/cm²

Do not pair Mini 2.0’s 100 mW/cm² at the LED surface with RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI’s 98.7 mW/cm² at six inches. Do not pair Elite’s 161 with MAX’s 100.53 as the same protocol. Line-wide published six-inch peaks are an RLT Home transparency win, not a crowned power score against an unnamed-instrument table. Peak compares with peak. Brand-stated does not compare with spectrometer.

Edge: No power winner. Kala’s 135 to 161 figures are brand-stated and unnamed. Mini 2.0’s 100 is a surface number. RLT Home wins the transparency row for spectrometer peaks at six inches across the line.

LED chip design

Kala publishes two constructions. Mini 2.0 is four-core (the comparison table also says 12 quad-core LEDs next to a 48 LED-light count on the same product). Elite is dual-chip. Pro lists 85 x 5 W without a dual-chip label. Dual-chip and four-core mean more than one die in a package. That is a construction fact. It is not proof of double output, and it is not a reason to dismiss Kala. RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE are single-chip 5W. Different architecture, not a quality score. Dose still depends on spectrometer irradiance, which Kala does not publish.

Elite’s 385 W line is written as 231 x 5 W. That multiplies package count by a 5 W rating. Dual-chip does not turn 385 W into independently measured six-inch irradiance. Mini 2.0’s four cores similarly do not convert the 100 mW/cm² surface figure into a six-inch peak.

Edge: Even as a quality row. Kala wins the published dual-chip / four-core fact. RLT Home is single-chip 5W. Do not convert either listing into a power score.

EMF and flicker

Kala Pro and Elite tech specs list EMF emission 0.00 at 4 inches. That is closer than RLT Home’s published Cornet reading of ≈0.0 μT at 6 inches. Different distance, different unit set. This page does not invent a 4-inch milligauss figure for RLT Home, and it does not invent a 6-inch Cornet figure for Kala. Kala Pro also claims a flicker-free LED array and does not publish a flicker percentage. RLT Home lists flicker as “None” on live pages and does not publish a percentage either.

Edge: Kala for a published 4-inch 0.00 EMF line on Pro and Elite. RLT Home for a published 6-inch Cornet ≈0.0 μT line. Not a like-for-like EMF fight. No flicker-percentage winner; neither brand publishes a %.

Beam angle

Kala Pro lists 30 degrees. Kala Elite lists mixed 30 degree and 60 degree lenses. RLT Home’s default is 30 degrees. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA uses multi-beam 15/30/60. Mixed lenses on Elite are a coverage choice, not a smear of a 30-degree default.

Edge: Split. Kala Elite on published 30 and 60 mix. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA on published multi-beam 15/30/60. Pro versus MINI is 30 versus 30.

RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE delivering a full-body session from a motorized electric stand.

Form factor and coverage

This is not a size-clone fight. Kala’s full-body SKUs are modular Elite stacks. RLT Home’s are one panel. Elite Duo is listed at about 70 x 8 inches. RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA is 64.3 x 11.8 inches in one piece. Quad is about 70 x 16 inches on a wheeled stand. RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE is 65 x 20.5 inches in one chassis.

Mini 2.0 versus RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI is the most misleading pairing on sticker. One is a 546 g handheld. The other is an 11.8-inch tabletop. Elite versus RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT is the closest mid pairing if you accept an 8.7-inch-wide, 35-inch-tall panel against a 11.8-inch-wide, 30-inch panel. Duo versus RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA is the closest full-body pairing only if you accept two hanging Elites against one 64.3-inch chassis.

RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX 49 inch mid-tall red light therapy panel
RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX, the 49.2-inch, 360-LED mid-tall single panel. Kala has no 49-inch one-piece clone. Elite is 35.4 inches tall.

Edge: RLT Home for a single 64-inch and 65-inch panel, a 49-inch mid-tall, and a wider 11.8 or 20.5-inch face. Kala for modular Elite stacks (Duo, Quad) and for a true handheld Mini 2.0 that RLT Home does not make.

Treatment modes and personalised guidance

Kala large panels run red, near-infrared, or both, plus Pulse Recovery+ with seven adjustable frequency settings and a pulse recovery mode. Timers are 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes. Mini 2.0 has two wavelength modes (660 + 850, or 630 + 830) and the same timer steps. There is no companion app and no personalised weekly plan from a science team.

RLT Home Total Spectrum panels include nine prebuilt modes plus custom (Full Power, Skin and Anti-Aging, Pain and Inflammation, Fat Burn and Weight Loss, Mental Health and Brain, Sleep, Acne, Hair Growth, Wound Healing). Pulsing is 0 to 5000 Hz. After purchase, the science team writes a free personalised weekly usage plan. There is no companion app. Devices stay offline.

Kala wins independent 660 / 850 switching and named Pulse Recovery+ frequencies. RLT Home wins mode count plus the automatic personalised plan. Neither named mode is a medical protocol.

Edge: Split. Kala for red-only / NIR-only / both plus Pulse Recovery+. RLT Home for nine science-built modes and the free weekly plan.

What is in the box, stands, and accessories

Kala Mini 2.0 includes goggles, a US adapter, a storage box, a manual, and a USB-C cable. The tabletop stand is a $100 USD step-up ($439.99 versus $339.99). Pro includes a built-in stand, hanging kit, goggles, and power cord at $589.99. Elite includes a hanging kit, goggles, charger, and power cord. Elite stands are paid variants: roller boot $1,449.99, vertical or horizontal $1,749.99, against $1,139.99 with no stand. Duo stands are $2,749.99 against $2,119.99 with no stand. Quad ships with the Kala Mobile Stand at $4,499.99. Roller boot sold separately is $139.99. Pro lists a controller that needs a battery you install.

RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI includes a tabletop stand. RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT and MAX include a stand; the motorized electric stand for COMPACT and MAX is a $495 add-on (compare-at $795). RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA and ELITE include a motorized electric stand. Two sets of eyewear ship with the panels.

Edge: RLT Home for motorized stands in the ULTRA and ELITE box, and for a stand with MINI at $495. Kala for a hanging kit and goggles in the Pro and Elite box, and for Quad’s wheeled stand included at $4,499.99. Elite’s usable home total is often the $1,749.99 stand variant, not the $1,139.99 no-stand sticker.

RLT Home · Trustpilot

243 reviews · www.trustpilot.com/review/redlighttherapyhome.com

Pulled 1 September 2026. Main listing used as specified for this comparison.

RLT Home wins this row on score (4.6 versus 3.1) and on sample size (243 versus 2). Kala’s two-review Trustpilot page is real and thin. A thin sample still gets a score, and it does not get replaced by the on-site 4.9 widget. RLT Home does not win this row automatically. It wins because both the score and the sample are higher.

Trial, shipping, and warranty

Kala: 30-day return. Valid return tracking is required within 30 days of delivery. A $15 restocking fee applies. Kala does not pay return shipping. Several Kala products are final sale, and the policy says no further trial is allowed after a return. Warranty is 2 years. Shipping is listed as free to Canada and the USA.

RLT Home: 60 days, no restocking fee, free insured return shipping. Warranty is 3 years.

Edge: RLT Home on trial length, restocking, and who pays the return. Kala on free Canada and USA outbound shipping from a Canadian brand. Warranty is 3 years versus 2 years for RLT Home.

FDA status

Home red light panels sold in the United States may be FDA-registered. That is a listing, not FDA clearance or approval to treat disease. RLT Home is FDA-registered, same listing. Kala displays an “FDA Cleared” badge on product pages. This page did not verify a 510(k) K-number for Mini 2.0, Pro, Elite, Duo, or Quad. Those panels are not treated here as FDA-cleared medical devices. Kala also lists RoHS, CE, and FC on Elite and Pro tech specs. Neither brand is presented as treating disease.

Edge: RLT Home for a verified FDA-registered listing without an unverified “cleared” badge. Kala’s badge is the brand’s own claim until a K-number is produced.

Stickers are within $5 before TOP10. TOP10 puts RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE at $4,225 with a motorized stand in one chassis. Quad is four dual-chip Elites on a wheeled stand at $4,499.99. Dual-chip count is a construction fact, not a reason to call Quad “twice the panel.” Coverage still depends on face width and whether you want one piece or four.

Who should choose RLT Home?

RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI 72 LED tabletop red light therapy panel

The verdict: winner and runner up

RLT Home takes the overall win for most buyers. Kala earns a credible runner-up spot where its philosophy fits: a Canadian 660/850 panel and a four-core travel mini versus seven-band full-body chassis, not a size-clone fight.

🏆 Winner

RLT Home, for most buyers

For buyers who want a published seven-band mix (including 480 nm and 1064 nm), spectrometer peaks at six inches across RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI, COMPACT, MAX, ULTRA, and ELITE, nine science-built modes, a free personalised weekly plan, free insured returns, a three-year warranty, and in-stock full-body panels with stands, RLT Home is the stronger overall choice.

TOP10 drops RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI to $465, COMPACT to $935, MAX to $1,499, ULTRA to $2,439, and ELITE to $4,225. It does not make MINI cheaper than Mini 2.0 at $339.99. The 30-inch through 65-inch rungs, the 60-day trial, and the Trustpilot sample are the ones Kala does not match on 1 September 2026.

🥈 Runner up

Kala, for 660/850 panels, a four-core Mini 2.0, and dual-chip Elite

For buyers who want a Canadian 660/850 panel with independent red / NIR switching, Pulse Recovery+ frequencies, a published dual-chip Elite or four-core Mini 2.0, and a $339.99 rechargeable handheld, Kala is the better fit. Dual-chip and four-core are construction facts, not a smear. Pro at $589.99 with a built-in stand is a cheaper 14-inch panel than RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT. That runner-up is a specialist win on Mini 2.0, 660/850 control, and Canadian shipping, not a full-body consolation. Quad at $4,499.99 is four Elites on a stand. It is not RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE in one piece.

Kala’s trial is 30 days with a restocking fee. RLT Home’s is 60 days with free insured returns. Kala’s warranty is two years. RLT Home’s is three. The right choice is which job you are buying for, and whether you need an in-stock body-height panel in one chassis.

Frequently asked questions

Who has better user reviews, Kala or RLT Home?

On independent Trustpilot listings checked 1 September 2026, Kala is 3.1 / 5 from 2 reviews at trustpilot.com/review/kalaredlight.com and RLT Home is 4.6 / 5 from 243 reviews at trustpilot.com/review/redlighttherapyhome.com. RLT Home wins the score and the sample size. Kala’s two-review set is thin and still counts. This page uses Trustpilot, not on-site shop stars, for the comparison.

Does dual-chip or four-core mean Kala is twice as powerful?

No. Dual-chip Elite and four-core Mini 2.0 are published LED constructions. They describe how dies sit in a package. They do not convert Elite’s 161 mW/cm² or Mini 2.0’s 100 mW/cm² surface figure into a spectrometer peak, and they are not a reason to dismiss Kala. RLT Home is single-chip 5W. Dose still depends on measured irradiance at a stated distance.

Can I use a Kala Mini 2.0 instead of RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX?

No. Mini 2.0 is a 102 x 146 mm, 546 g handheld at $339.99 with 100 mW/cm² at the LED surface. RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX is a 49.2 x 11.8-inch, 360-LED mid-tall panel at $1,595 ($1,499 with TOP10) with a 100.53 mW/cm² six-inch spectrometer peak. They do not cover the same body area and they are not the same working distance.

Is TOP10 a Kala coupon?

No. TOP10 is 6% off current RLT Home live prices only, rounded to the nearest dollar. This article does not invent a Kala discount code. Kala prices are the live manufacturer USD prices on kalaredlight.com/en-us.

Is Kala FDA cleared?

Kala displays an “FDA Cleared” badge. This page did not verify a 510(k) K-number for the LED panels in this pairing. RLT Home is FDA-registered. Registration is a listing, not clearance. Neither brand is presented here as treating disease.

Conclusion

Kala and RLT Home are solving different jobs. Kala wins a four-wavelength Mini 2.0 at $339.99, independent 660 / 850 switching, Pulse Recovery+ frequencies, published dual-chip and four-core construction, a 4-inch 0.00 EMF line, and a cheaper 14-inch Pro. RLT Home wins seven-band density including 480 nm and 1064 nm, six-inch spectrometer peaks, nine modes plus a personalised plan, in-stock 30-inch through 65-inch panels, a three-year warranty, free insured returns, and Trustpilot 4.6 from 243 reviews versus 3.1 from 2. With TOP10, RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI is $465, RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT $935, RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX $1,499, RLT Home Total Spectrum ULTRA $2,439, and RLT Home Total Spectrum ELITE $4,225. The data favors RLT Home for most buyers, with Kala the runner-up for 660/850 Canadian panels and a four-core travel mini. A $339.99 Mini 2.0 still does not cover a body like RLT Home Total Spectrum MAX.
