Wavelengths and density
GembaRed publishes its LED share. The Beacon uses 22% 630 nm, 34% 660 nm, 22% 830 nm, and 22% 850 nm from 54 3W LEDs. The Beacon 3.0 moves to five bands with convex lenses for skin contact.
Joovv Generation 3.0 uses two bands, 660 nm red and 850 nm near infrared, at roughly an even split. Two well-studied bands at high density is a legitimate design. Density matters more than count, and GembaRed shows exactly how its LEDs are split.
Edge: GembaRed on range and published density.
Power and Irradiance: Measured by Independent Third Parties
Light Therapy Insiders (LTI) measured a Joovv Solo 3.0 with a Hopoo Color OHSP-350F spectrometer: 72.4 mW/cm² peak and a 9-spot average of 59.2. Joovv’s own irradiance tag does not name the instrument or distance, so it is not used here.
GembaRed publishes no third-party spectrometer reading for the Beacon or Beacon 3.0. Its own Beacon output figure is calculated from optical watts and lens area rather than measured with a spectrometer, so it is not used here. GembaRed deliberately designs for lower intensity.
Edge: Joovv on published independent data. GembaRed is not ranked on power.
Design and use
GembaRed’s pitch is ultra-low EMF and no fan noise: an external DC adapter, no fans, and a metal enclosure. The Beacon 3.0 is built for direct skin contact.
Joovv panels are modular: a Mini or Solo can be linked with others up to the Max and Elite setups, with stands sold separately.
Edge: GembaRed for silent contact sessions. Joovv for size range.
FDA, returns, and warranty
GembaRed markets its panels as general wellness and lists FCC and RoHS conformance. openFDA returned no GembaRed 510(k) on 1 November 2026. Not cleared.
GembaRed offers a limited 60-day return in like-new condition with original packaging, and a 2-year limited warranty on the Beacon.
Joovv badges its devices with Class II registration wording. openFDA returned no 510(k) for Joovv on 1 November 2026. Joovv’s own 11 April 2026 article says FDA registration “does not evaluate or certify device safety, performance, or engineering quality.” Registered is not cleared.
Joovv gives Generation 3.0 modular devices a 60-day return period and a 2-year limited warranty. Original shipping is non-refundable and return shipping is the buyer’s cost; open-box and final-sale items are non-refundable.
Edge: Even on window length and warranty. Neither is FDA-cleared.
